The Last Days of the Loretto Extension

Wretched weather, but still, I just can't resist snapping the wet pavements glistening under streetlights on a rainy night https://www.flickr.com/photos/woolamaloo_gazette/54976622609/in/photostream/lightbox/

Bus Stop Chronicles
I just read that Martin Parr passed away yesterday. He was a giant in street photography circles with a fantastic library of unusual photos showing a slice of life wherever he had his camera.
So, today’s image has to be a street photo. A busy scene on St. Patrick Street, Cork in 2017.

Via Berkeleyside: Fun design for a bus shelter at Berkeley BART: https://thelondondesignawards.com/winner-info.php?id=6247
(Apparently it's just a design, no actual plans for construction)
I wonder how the large underground water tank would work with underground BART. And I really don’t think Berkeley gets enough 90+ degree days to need a misting system. (On the other hand, put it in Antioch…)
Wondering when the night bus will arrive https://www.flickr.com/photos/woolamaloo_gazette/54737879391/in/photostream/

Continuing to share favourite images from my 30+ year photographic career. One final one from New Zealand before moving on to Finland. This scene is at Whangaroa, in the Northland..

Hot summer morning. This bus shelter doesn't shelter from sun (or rain, unless it falls straight down, the bench is usually wet when it rains). Cannot really hide behind it because of the fence/plants, and also because this is an on-demand stop. If you don't hail the driver, they don't have to stop. What else? No transport network map. No rubbish bin. No colour.
For #FensterFreitag here's a basic bus shelter in the town of Hafnarfjörður, just south of Iceland's capital, and the place we stayed when we first visited this country in 2015. We stayed in the town, not the bus shelter. I wouldn't want you to get confused about that.

After a dangerous walk along a highway off-ramp, we reached the #BusStop and hopped on a NJ Transit bus to New York. Here's a nicely decorated #BusShelter along the route.
心惊胆战地在高速下匝道步行到了公交站，然后搭上了前往纽约市区的公交车。路上看到有花卉装饰的公交站亭。
I don't seem to have mentioned the #Shopping #Trip to #Wroxham back in #January. In truth it was just an excuse to take the #boat out again. But I have now written up the log at: https://gregafloat.org.uk/safari/240129shopping.php
It started with #SundayLunch taken aboard, "Singing the Blues", included a #game (and a purchase!), pondering the curious case of the #BusShelter" under a #railway #viaduct and a walk around the village of #Belaugh.

#GoldCoast #BusShelter designs in #Coomera and #Oxenford. The newest provides the least sun/rain protection. The oldest was the most enclosed. Placement of the bus stop and shelter is important too. The first one is in full sun in the mornings. People stand in the shade behind it. This stop should be moved 60 metres where the road turns 90 degrees.
The shelters should also never be placed on the path, or behind it, as then they create conflict with mobility scooters and bikes. #Australia
