I recently found out my IQ from finally getting my hands on my autism diagnosis and it’s a number in the range of “yeah being in academia has already reaffirmed for me that I am a genius and though I object to the use of IQ scores in most contexts, it was a nice little pick me up for a psychiatrist to classify me as a genius”.

Is he really your best friend if you don’t include on your resume your emotional counseling for him after his divorce as editorial experience for the literary journal where he’s primary chair? -

Maybe I just need to finish designing and launching my website that is free, actually free, pedagogy resources for people teaching and going through MBA courses. That I’ve been working on for like 2+ years now and basically just have to wait for my thesis to be signed off on so that I have control over posting my work online.
So I can be very casual in giving him a resource of “just in case you need it, here’s something I did for work that’s open access”

Today I started making my boss a list of all of the stuff I say regularly so that when I’m not there every day and just an adjunct, I will still be there every day in the form of note cards living on the knick-knack shelf he has made of all of the stuff I’ve brought him back from my musician travels.
First on the list of often said Jack lines: “I can see the utility in (blank), but I choose not to utilize (blank)”

I wasn’t paying enough attention to remember the context but I was at work the other day and somehow the conversation shifted to my boss asking me, “Jack, how early did you graduate high school?” And I had to be honest and I just had to say, “I finished at 15. Then I just went to community college and worked full time until I turned 19.”
And I think that made me make sense, as a person, to that room full of my coworkers. -
So I’m thinking about applying to this career development instructor position that I saw on LinkedIn. And I thought, at first, that it was for a school that has an extension agency in a somewhat remote part of Canada. In fact, it’s for a technical school in an extremely remote part of Alaska. And I don’t know what it says about me that I found that out and thought, “yeah sure I’ll move to the wilderness to teach people about professionalism”.

One of my advisors on my thesis committee commented “you [Jack] know more about retail grocery as an industry” than actual strategists employed by the industry. And I’m like yeah, that’s why I need to get a PhD after this degree is over. So my “expertise” will actually be worth something on paper besides you know all of the “paper” I’ve generated by writing articles in this very specific business field.

No one ever comes for MIS/ISM tutoring, so as the head tutor in my department, I spent 5 of my TA hours (so far) for this week just brainstorming articles with faculty outside of my department.

Waiting for my current advising committee member to grade the current part of my thesis so I can post it on my blog because I think y'all will enjoy my takedown of retail grocery buying app algorithms as contributing to loyalty program "creep factors" and putting blinders on grocery consumers by forcing people to fill their baskets with habitual purchases, rather than suggesting new products like the weekly ad in-store print flyers.

I’m in an advanced marketing class right now that’s 50% advanced consumer behavior theory and 50% working on my thesis so I just randomly stopped one of my senior marketing exec friends in public to grill him about his tomato buying habits…

Working on part 2/8 of my master's thesis. Currently just under 4k words and just over 20 pages. Trying to finish designing an economy of scale study on how hard it is for a grocery store to make and sell its own bread, and then how to pass the bread along in an ethical way without contributing further to food waste. And it's due in about 30 hours but I'm only going to spend another hour or two on the damn thing lol.
