Lost underground water network beneath Royal Parks to be mapped

I went to a park (Bushy Park) to look for some owls.
I found Owls (Little and Tawny), but also a Green Woodpecker and two Kingfishers.
Snaps from my camera screen, and real photos will follow, but not of the Kingfishers as they were too far away and the photos are blurry.

Went to a pond workshop in the Kingfisher community garden yesterday; the speaker said that there's huge insect life in Bushy Park, and the largest number of bats in Dublin - but all at the pond where the swans live, not on the woodland ponds. He said this is because of pine trees planted around the woodland ponds, which make them acid. Can't think of a lot of pine trees myself, apart from 2 sequoias and a couple of Scots Pines, all relatively ancient

I have never seen these before yesterday. I wondered to my friend why these flying birds have thrived in the predator control zone at #BushyPark ?
Seeing them, it becomes obvious. They were delightful to watch, close to the ground or amongst the leaf litter - very happy to see them thriving here.
