I didn't know there were Burrowing Owls in the Mojave. I was hiking through a yucca and cholla patch when a light-colored owl took flight ahead ahead of me. My best guess was a Barn Owl, but it was the middle of the morning. As soon as it alighted, I could tell from that sassy stance that I was dealing with a Burrowing Owl. Magical Day in Point Reyes
It had been a few weeks since my last significant photography outing. A visit to Point Reyes, my favorite place in the world, was in order. I would have been happy just to spend some time outdoors, even if I didn’t manage much photography. The only time I've ever been able to take a photo of an #owl was this one time in 2011 when I walked into the #SFO check-in area, and this guy was just sitting on one of the monitors.
It seems to be a #BurrowingOwl, which is appropriate for that area of California, but they usually (like their name implies) sleep in a burrow. Though, I guess a building is just like a big burrow made by humans.
