Just gone 8am and its already too warm here in my brick built, 1st floor flat, in SE England.
When I read yesterday that it could get up to 38c today, I cried. I am so worn out with the constant drain on my energy just trying to keep cool. I'm doing everything right - got a portable AC unit that is costly to run but only keeps one room cool, so that is now where we are both living, working, eating, everything. Not cooking hot foods. Drinking tonnes of water. Got black out solar film on both south facing windows that stays up permanently, apart from a small opening at night when the windows are open to let through cooler air. Got white sheets over the dark green sofa (no idea if that works but it 'feels' cooler). All heat generating devices turned off unless absolutely needed. Lights off. Made sure the cats water fountain is fully charged and topped up. Light coloured loose clothing. Packet of unscented baby wipes in the fridge for hourly wipe down of face, neck, arms and feet.
Not getting enough sleep or chance to cool down properly at night is not helping.
And I moan about all this knowing that we are the lucky ones, who have a roof over our heads to try and keep cool, can run an AC unit with the extra electricity charges, have access to safe clean water, and can afford to eat salads and other nutritious cold foods.
I'm crying again writing this because the world is cooked and no-ones doing anything about it, just building more data centres and allowing cunts like trump and farage to ignore the climate emergency and declare it woke or whatever.
This is OUR WORLD it belongs to all of us, if it belongs to anyone at all, it is our only one and we fucked it up like the parasites we are.
All those forest fires, people dying of heat exhaustion or dehydration in countries that are far hotter than the UK, the sheer fucking tragedy of it all. The ignorance of the rich to think it doesnt matter because they have their wealth and that will save them.

Went to the last instance of Gothic Maine's #Plague night this weekend (the proceeds of which went to the #Unhoused in #Maine). I first DJ'ed with them 20 years ago, and had some very cool nights I organized with them... Including #WickerMan and #NineteenEightyFour nights! The end of an era!
