The “Burden of the Beast” piece by @sabatomstudios was probably the most timely and prophetic art at #burningman2023

It is made out of reclaimed materials from houses destroyed from climate disasters in New Orleans. It depicts the way in our homes and lives would migrate to safer places escaping the impact of climate change if we lived in a Miyazaki movie.

We all saw the awful photos of mud and toilets and lines of traffic from #BurningMan2023 and got plenty of schadenfreude out of them, but folks who were there tell me the first few days were beautiful. This is a gorgeous version of the Tower of Babel photographed by Brian Busta.

I know there are a lot of folks making fun of the situation at Burning Man, but this is Dane putting on his security guard hat: No emergency vehicles can get in (or at the very least not without great difficulty) if there's a life-threatening situation.
