I learned about environmental nightmares from PBS before I was 10 & have been fighting since. Had some success shutting down a nuclear bomb production plant that refused to update their filtration.
Joined GreenPeace & The Jacques Cousteau Socieity for over a decade.
I’ve written letters, joined protests, bailed ppl out of jail, cleaned up beaches & parks- with kids in the fam so they know. I witnessed the flipping of the script.

As I said, I still do #opensource but care a lot less... the last straw was when I got a literal *#deaththreat* from someone because I hadn't worked on a #project in a while. (due to personal circumstances)
I dropped that project like a brick, locked everything down and went underground for 2-3 years. Not because I was afraid but rather fed up. Not the best approach but still.
(many) Open source devs are #overworked, #underpaid, often #burnedout and sometimes #starving...

Between Mr 80% and my boss, I'm not sure we're ever going to hire anybody. People I think are good get negated by them, and they love people I think are only okay. We're clearly not on the same page, and I don't know how to get on their page. I'm not sure I want to.
