A new 500 million year old #sea #jelly 🪼 #fossil, and the first sea jelly from the #Burgess #Shale.

The researchers named it Burgessomedusa phasmiformis. The species name means “ghostly form” because they thought it looks like the ghosts from #Pac-#Man.

There is some dispute, but this may be the oldest known sea jelly, and is important to our understanding of the #evolution of #animals.
