dee park is a fricken' model of interreligious peace. i saw groups of covered teen girls rollerblading around, and when they passed me by, they were speaking russian! i also heard turkish and various south asian languages. one of the baseball fields is regularly used for cricket games and there's even a cheering audience! there's a section of the park where all the south asian uncles hang out and chat. kids ride their scooters & bikes all around. i, myself, when i was a youngsta, played tennis here and took tae kwon do lessons at the rec center. up with dee park & up with people having enough room to be themselves.

Taking a trip down memory lane (only a few months back!!) to the #Rone exhibition at #FlinderStreetStation #Melbourne #Australia.
Cannot help to marvel at the amazing photos on my phone that captured Tyrone Wright’s brilliance, oh so easily.
‘Rone’, as he’s affectionately known, is an accomplished Melbourne based artist. He has created amazing street art and large scale mural works for years.
His recent exhibition in #Melbs was designed to remind (perhaps educate) us, of the forgotten, mid-century, working-class life.
The subject matter in this recent exhibition (11 rooms, with differing themes; job roles / professions), featured European women migrants of the 1950-60’s who were largely behind the city's booming manufacturing industries.
I loved the props, music and of course the poignant candid (natural) appearance of the young women making their way in their new world in #melbourne #Australia back in the day.

It’s just wonderful isn’t it?
Danielle writes on insta that painting this piece of herself depicted as a young kid, was a meaningful process.
The theme of this mural is ‘belonging’ and she goes on to say, that whilst it was difficult fitting in as a child, art has been instrumental in her personal journey and growth. And has been an avenue to finding herself; her fit [sic].
#DanielleWeber; “I hope this mural inspires others to explore their own sense of belonging and to embrace unique perspectives”.
I love this piece. The child’s eyes; beaming with innocence and clarity. She is living in the moment; in spontaneous joy of this captured moment. Unadulterated child-like wonderment. Being present and alive!
Although her vulnerability (also evident) is present, this youngster’s inherent knowledge, if not at a cellular level, knows that to dream the dream will bring nothing but joy.

#Melbs own Marty Brazell is an accomplished artist, large scale muralist and the nicest guy you could ever meet.
His ability to portray fun and the fantastical in his subjects, particularly in his series of our world’s entertainers, past and present is just awesome.
All are oil on canvas. 1 metre x 1 metre.
Painting 4 hangs prominently in my living room.

I just love this mural. I’ve posted some time ago, but can’t get enough of it
Found it again in my travels recently.
The #rosella is astonishingly good. So too the #wombat to the right of scene in the second pic.
Painted by HaydenDewar.com in 2019, this scene complements another painted on brick, just off Acland Street in StKilda. It has the same humanoid figures and #Australiana themes.
I’ll visit that and feature it here, sometime in the not too distant future.
This mural (pictured in this post) however, is located in #Bentleigh #Australia.

This mural is displayed in the #eastend #theatredistrict of #melbourne #Australia.
Spotted in an alleyway painted on the rear of an old industrial building, a woman, shoulders up, looks down over her shoulder, flanked by long, whispy bird feathers of some type around her figure.
The painting is around 60-70 foot (15-20 metres) tall in its entirety.
Long jet black hair, full lips and alluring eyes, this scene says so much. It could be described as sexually charged. Depending on your interpretation. Her look could almost be described too, as contemptuous or accusing. Again, depending on the observer.
The building is old and rustic, concrete cladded and the setting looks like a grungy back alley that was probably in its hay day in the early 20th century Melbourne. It stands at around 5-6 stories tall and is and is adorned on the periphery with air vents, plumbing pipes and guttering down pipes.

Took a shortcut through a small industrial area in the SE suburbs of #melbourne the other day and spotted these cute displays.
A pink #galah with a gorgeous head crest and a #kookaburra - these were painted on corrugated iron, which (I imagine) would have been challenging.
Also a #birdofparadise, #butterfly, #puppy and girl with a watering can tending to the little palms.
This was displayed on a brick wall of another nearby factory, separated by a staff carpark.
An unexpected, but pleasant little find!

There’s only a couple weeks left of this exhibition.
All sold out!
Tho tickets are still available from second-hand ticket sales (eg for peeps selling theirs, who cannot make the allocated day and time) on the Rone webby, capped at no more than 10% the original purchase price. This is awes. This is how I came across my ticket some weeks ago.
This is 1 of 11 rooms that was on display, titled; “The Classroom”.
This room was ‘lighter’ in ambiance and mood, for mine.
I love the depiction of the young woman - obviously the teacher… as displayed beautifully on the chalk board.
A terrific setting to display first-class art, focussing on the theme of immigrant settlers (specifically women) making their way in the workforce, post-war, so many years ago.

The subject’s somber, yet resilient nature (that’s how I interpret it) has been depicted perfectly, by the artist.

This room was dark but jam packed full of character and old charm. A favourite.
