Tomorrow's proposed burbing route. I'm trying to get 25% of Kaleen.

More burbing for me this weekend. I headed out to the north northern suburbs of Canberra with a friend.
74km 700 VM and almost 20 new kilometres.
I met my wife and @_helelelen_ for brunch at Daughters at Hall and rode slowly home.
A good day out and 230km for the week.

My #Canberra #burbing dominance continues...
Riding every street in a suburb is tricky, but every footpath and track? Forgeddaboudit.
That's why I tap out at 75% completion. I consider it done without being a pain in the arse.
I finished Weston on Monday - after about 10 attempts to get to 75% - and that brings me to 14 suburbs burbed.
You do see some interesting parts of your city/town this way.

Have you heard of #burbing? It's a fun #cycling activity where you ride down every street in a suburb! :DorisBike:

It looks like the last "burbing" was submitted to this site in August last year, but I think everyone with a bike should try it out. It's so satisfying to do and see the final result! :DorisHappy:

So... this happened tonight.
I knew it was going to be hilly but this was a shock. 😲

Went cycling without my crew this morning (all busy with Christmas engagements) and, since I still had the gravel tyres on from my trip down the coast, I went exploring and came across...
The Air Disaster Memorial.
In 1940 a plane crashed near #canberra airport, killing everyone onboard. The crew were RAAF and the passengers were government ministers of the day, including Air and Civil Aviation Minister James Fairbairn (for whom the RAAF base is named).
The site itself is well signposted but is a bit out of the way. It's behind a large paintball area, down a couple of fire trails and close to a Dept of Defence Firing Range.
An interesting bit of Canberra history that I didn't know too much about.
