Hay un detalle curioso que merece estar en su sitio cuando hablamos de Annabel Lee: su eco en la música española.

El poema fue publicado en 1849, poco después de la muerte de Edgar Allan Poe, y se convirtió en uno de sus textos más reconocibles.
Esa mezcla de amor absoluto, mar, muerte y fidelidad más allá de la tumba ha inspirado versiones y adaptaciones en distintos idiomas.

En España, Radio Futura incluyó un tema titulado Annabel Lee en 1987, dentro del álbum "La canción de Juan Perro".
No es una traducción literal, sino una reinterpretación con su propio pulso poético y urbano, muy marcada por la atmósfera literaria que siempre tuvo el grupo.

Años después, Enrique Bunbury también versionó Annabel Lee, acercándose más al texto original y subrayando el tono romántico y oscuro del poema.
En su voz, la historia vuelve a ese “reino junto al mar”, pero con una carga dramática muy contemporánea.

Lo interesante es que ambas versiones demuestran algo: Annabel Lee no es solo un poema del siglo XIX.
Es un símbolo.
Ese amor que desafía a los ángeles, que sobrevive a la muerte y que roza lo obsesivo sigue funcionando porque toca una fibra muy humana: la negativa a soltar.

Poe escribió sobre dormir junto a la tumba de la amada.
Puede sonar excesivo, incluso perturbador.
Pero esa intensidad es justo lo que convierte el poema en eterno.
Y cuando músicos de generaciones tan distintas lo rescatan, lo que están diciendo es claro: la herida sigue abierta, y todavía canta. 🖤

@Heliograph @davidv There's a cafe type thing at a roadhouse on the way down south, somewhere near #Bunbury I think. We stopped there a couple of months ago for coffee. They explained they were not in favour of disposable cups. So our take-out coffee was served in a mug. A ceramic mug that was ours to keep. i think they maybe bought boxes of them from the op-shops or something. I liked that idea. Until realising they're totally impractical in the car as they don't fit the cup holders and they spill everywhere.
And the last thing my limited kitchen storage needs is more random mugs.
