"#Chanbara チャンバラ", padded #trainingSwords, are an option. They are too floppy, however, to simulate #parries and sliding #blocks.
#Kendô #armour (剣道道具), another possible option, does not protect the whole body; especially some classic #targets like the armpit (八つ口) are completely unprotected. The #bamboo #sparring #sword (#shinai 竹刀) used with the kendô-dôgu lacks the weight and curvature of the real sword, and cannot properly depict some of the #techniques. -
