  1. @lukeharby not a botanist but I like searching for stuff like this. spider mites seems to be the closest contender. See If you can see tiny red dots within the web. There’s also a fungal thread blight, and wooly aphids, but the pictures I find online are nowhere near that uniform distribution like in your photos.
Also, I’ve seen such questions under #plantid and #bugid tags

  2. Creature Identification help, please

Can the bug knowledgable fedi-friends identify this for me please? INaturalist has clearly failed utterly here, as it obviously isn't a Ladybird/bug.

  3. Looks like it's the Dielis pilipes, Hairy-footed Scoliid Wasp!

These bees live in the ground, maybe sorta solitary but in communities? Lots of holes in the dry sandy silt ground where they live. The fly around in patterns around the nests. I thought maybe some sort of cuckoo bee but I'm not sure. They're big, about 25mm long. Some kind of bee, wasp, hornet. More pics in the reply.

  4. Some kind of June beetle? It was on European plum blossom. I went back to collect it later but it was gone.

  5. CW: lots of little bugs, seeking ID

anybody able to identify these? hundreds of them in one of meats' houseplants. just the one, though. i can't tell if they're insects or arachnids at this size, and this is as good as my phone can do

  6. Some native bees on the flowers. Bombus vagans on a cucumber, a tiny and black bee or wasp on the bee balm, some sort of longhorn bee on rudbeckia, and Bombus vagans again on the hyssop.

  7. I think this might be the same species as the first pic above (this is a reply). Maybe it's just a leafcutter bee leaving the other one with the big head unknown.

    This was on a daylily.

  8. Not sure what these are. sand wasp, weevil wasp, pollen wasp? I thought it was the same insect but I see my first photo was a different one so they pulled a switcheroo.

They were on the baby's breath, Gypsophila paniculata.

  9. I found this cool grasshopper a few summers ago while stuck on the side of the road in rural West Texas after our rental broke down. #bugid #bugs

  10. Any #entomologists or #entomology folks can help me pseudo-ID a bug?
I saw it come into the bathroom from under the baseboards, there's a small gap area.
Dark colour, possibly 1cm size, small "but a large small", moved fast. It came in, stopped, and went RIGHT back into the same hole.

Now I'm fearing it's bedbugs but that seems unlikely, I've been in this place a few months now... But what could it have been?? Didn't seem like a cockroach ...
    Thanks!

  14. If you’re trying to get mystery insects/arthropods identified here, you should probably be at iNaturalist instead.

All the same, the hashtag #bugID might call your Q to the attention of the appropriate experts here. #insects #spiders
