Samedi 24 mai, une mobilisation d'opposition au projet de réacteurs nucléaires EPR2 sur le site du Bugey a réuni 150 à 200 personnes à Loyettes (Ain). L'évènement organisé par le collectif Stop EPR Bugey s'est déroulé dans une ambiance festive et déterminée.

EDF ne l'a annoncé que 2 jours plus tard, mais un des réacteurs de la centrale du Bugey (Ain) s'est arrêté automatiquement le 14 août 2024. Un problème sur la ligne haute tension, qui permet d'évacuer sur le réseau l'électricité produite par le réacteur, est survenu dans la soirée.

Trying the classic trick of winter red #cornus stems against dark background here in #bugey #france. Dodgy because it’s so dry here. Only 1100mm rain a year. However wild cornus abound so I thought I’d give it a shot. I planted these last spring and I think it’s working. The #boar keep digging them up though. Sigh. Battle. #Gardening.

The Jura Path beckons today. The first thing I did on my abandoned #vineyard in #bugey #france was to make paths through the jungle like growth. This one remains a favourite as it winds through a #box #buxus #buis forest on limestone rock. And yes you can spot the end of the Jura mountains in the form of Grand Colombier at #culoz.

Good morning from La Vigne, my abandoned #vineyard in #bugey #france. I’ve identified 36 species of trees on this three hectare plot. None planted in the seven years I’ve been here. Just indigenous. The box #buxus is being killed by #boxcaterpillar and the #spruce by spruce bark beetle. And #ash die-back is just starting. But others seem ok including my favourite silver #birches pictured here. Wishing you a good Sunday. PS don’t know if you followed the #johnmastodon chat yesterday - 🤩.

#gardening #boxcaterpillar destroyed a hectare of mature box #buxus trees on my abandoned vineyard in #bugey #france. Felled it through tears and made a zen garden. But the box reappeared so now I topiarise it and use organic spray plus pheromone detectors. The moths disappeared because they had eaten all the box in the region but they’ll return!

Eight wild #orchid species which I previously posted. Also made a Zen #garden which I’ll cover in a separate post. Suffer from drought on limestone. Vegetable potager too but #boar ravage it. #Organic and no irrigation. Also have deciduous forest and conifer forest which is being killed by spruce beetle. #boxcaterpillar also…
