@DavidNielsen On your recommendation, I started listening to #BTB ‘s podcast and I’m currently in a “blow my mind” state listening to “the zizian” chapters.
Man! So much lovecraft, Neal Stephenson (Snowcrash & Anathem mainly), Asimov and other postapocalyptic fiction that is getting harder not to be amazed by the convolutedness of it all.

This morning, @groswald alerted me to the fact that the subject of today's BTB is "our old pal Benny Shaps" and that reminded me of the period when @groswald was our housemate and sometimes I'd come home to him and @jdekg in the midst of a conversation where they'd both adopt the voice and persona of Ben Shapiro. Cherished memories.

I’ll go to the metaphorical mat to defend an interest in true crime and I consume plenty of that kind of Content™️ myself, but it is VITAL for those of us who engage with this genre to retain our skepticism and to exercise some goshdarn discretion and judgment in what we read/watch/listen to and share.

I read an interesting (and upsetting!) article on this subject not that long ago and if you’d asked me before I listened to this episode of #BTB I would’ve sworn the harassment campaign against the Steiners happened circa 2007, not five(ish) years ago.
That’s at least partially my brain but I have to think it’s also pandemic time distortion.
