🫛 The Slow Two Weeks: on podding peas and the older life of the broad bean
There are two broad beans. The fresh one is a two-week luxury, eaten raw with pecorino and red wine. The dried one is ful medames — feeding the eastern Mediterranean for 6,000 years.
Same species. Almost no shared imaginative space.
Eat them now. Pod them slowly.

When I was young I didn't really like #BroadBeans they seemed to have a rather unpleasant aftertaste apart from their skins being tough.
