  1. Highly recommend watching the new show 'Ann Droid', featuring Diane Morgan (Philomena Cunk) as a robot assistant to an elderly widow. It's a BBC exclusive, FYI.

  2. IN OTHER NEWS am watching a BBC docushow on english castles. TIL “Prince of Wales” is a colonial title. never occurred to me the “Prince Of Wales” isn't Welsh.

what’s interesting is that the whole premise of the show is about how the english copied and surpassed the norman building castles and using them as tools for COLONIALISM.

it’s so rare in USA to hear historians referring to europeans colonizing each other before moving on to other continents.

  3. RE: mastodon.social/@Kalshann/1170

    this tells me people in #Texas don't watch #MidsomerMurders #Poirot #MissMarple #FatherBrown #SisterBoniface or any #brittv #britpop #tv using “faith-based” “non-profit” “foster care” as the motive for murder.

the Father Brown episode, The Bride of Christ, is devastating even with its light-handed treatment of the separation horrors in birthing hospitals:

and never forget Sinead O’Connor’s abuse, in foster care, at the Magdalene Laundries

  4. IN OTHER NEWS

have decided that John Nettles, the original Barnaby in #MidsomerMurders is the William Shatner of the UK. as he gets older in the part, he does a clipped and breathless enunciation. it’s just weird. he really gives the John Barton Royal Shakespeare Company treatment to those silly scripts.

  7. IN OTHER NEWS
wondering how big are the small villages in Midsomer Murders. what with the amount of episodes they have, they must have covered a 2-300 murders, no?

i wonder if @midsomerplots knows how many people been killed in the show all these years.

  8. More old lady british mysteries:

I'm watching Dalziel & Pascoe, an old series I never paid enough attention to.

    I like it!!

Dalziel (pron. Dee-yel) is gruff but inadvertently funny. He's like an english bulldog in a suit. I love him.
