By rejecting his bid for appeal the High Court has made Bruce Lehrmann's defamation case a complete failure

He's lost another attempt in court to clear his name. It appears this was his final chance with the legal system — he's exhausted all possibilities. Along the way, he's very publicly made himself look like a self-entitled, privileged, nepotistic, drug-abusing, right-wing nut-job, misogynistic rapist.
I don't have much to add, other than sympathy for Brittany Higgins because of the ordeal she's been put through due to Bruce Lehrmann and his rape-excusing supporters in the Liberal Party like the vindictive former senator Linda Reynolds.

Bruce Lehrmann loses appeal against failed defamation case ruling

He was trying to undo the court's earlier decision that journalist Lisa Wilkinson and her employer, Network Ten, were reporting the news truthfully when they stated he had raped Brittany Higgins in 2019. I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is that the Truth Defence in a Defamation case is difficult to pull-off in Australia, yet they managed it because the facts were so clear. Furthermore, it's now safe to say that Bruce Lehrmann deserves his reputation as a rapist, Lisa Wilkinson and Network Ten didn't harm his reputation, and any reputational harm he's incurred has been self-inflicted.
In this fresh loss for the politically-protected, right-wing rapist, the court added to the damning record of Bruce Lehrmann:
- In a bizarre backflip from earlier claiming he didn't rape Brittany Higgins, this time he tried to downplay his crimes by asserting he committed rape in a "non-violent" fashion. The court said it didn't make a lot of difference for the Truth Defence; however you look at it, he's still a rapist.
- He should pay legal costs for Lisa Wilkinson and Network Ten for this case.
- He still owes $2 Million for legal costs for Lisa Wilkinson and Network Ten for previous losses. -

IANAL, but IMHO, Linda Reynolds has weaponised our legal system and vindictively misused our (broken) Defamation laws against Brittany Higgins.
I believe Brittany Higgins when she said Linda Reynolds mishandled her rape allegation, and that the former Senator and Defence Minister harassed her and tried to silence her for speaking-up as a sexual assault victim.
I also believe Linda Reynolds has such a toxic personality and dire public reputation that it's hardly possible for anything Brittany Higgins has said to harm the reputation of Linda Reynolds. Linda Reynolds claiming she's the victim looks awfully like DARVO. It's clear that by siding with a rapist and attacking the victim, Linda Reynolds is a Crumb Maiden of the Patriarchy.
For a recap of things Linda Reynolds has done to ruin her own reputation independently of what Brittany Higgins said on social media, here are some facts established in court about her:
- Bruce Lehrmann raped Brittany Higgins in the office of Linda Reynolds. Yet, Linda Reynolds showed little care or responsibility as an employer toward her own staffers.
- Linda Reynolds was asked by Brittany Higgins for help and advice after being raped, but in response Linda Reynolds was unsympathetic and called Brittany Higgins a "lying cow".
- Linda Reynolds leaked documents to the media about Brittany Higgins that were marked "Confidential" and "Legal professional privilege."
- Lina Reynolds destroyed evidence, such as deleting text messages with Bruce Lehrmann’s former barrister, and removing the couch upon which Bruce Lehrmann raped Brittany Higgins from the crime scene before it could have a forensic investigation.#AusPol #LindaReynolds #CrumbMaiden #CrumbMaidenOfThePatriarchy #BruceLehrmann #BrittanyHiggins

He claims a distinction, as if the trauma were somehow diminished, because #BrittanyHiggins was heavily intoxicated at the time. He alleges he was denied procedural fairness as the rape—which he's heretofore maintained never occurred—wasn't violent.
He's run out of excuses.
