  4. 🧵I propose the tax income could subsidise housing for Spaniards who can't compete for accommodation with wealthy foreigners. Plus it will reduce the total volume of tourists by cutting the bottom of the barrel, low-profit, all-day-breakfast, €2 a pint, vomit on the pavement kind of tourists that nobody wants. Those tourists will find somewhere else to get legless at lunchtime.

Surely it would make more sense for there to be one or a handful of MPs for Brits Abroad, with a slightly more limited remit (maybe only allowed to vote on certain issues etc?) but to at least ensure our interests are represented in Parliament, rather than just crossing our fingers and hoping that rushed constituency MPs bother to work out how things work for overseas citizens, when those citizens comprise at most a few percent of their voters? #BritsAbroad #UKexpats

  6. Big goals for today, aiming for 200km of pannier dragging through thankfully fairly flat terrain (1400m mainly in the middle). It’s a Bristol to London day, and will leave me with only 400km left over 3 days.
