I'm not pro or anti ABS-CBN airwave closure, but as I've always said before it happened, it will #BringDownTheWalls in Philippine network collaborations.
And look, years later, there's no stopping it.
Sometimes we need something drastic for these companies to let go of their 1940s network war.

I think our stance on "People first, not platforms/protocols" as well as #BringDownTheWalls and #BuildBridgesNotWalls reflects our spectrum on Capitalism—Socialism—Communism.
As well as how much "open" we truly are.
For example, myself:
- Almost all my works are CY-BY-SA, CC-BY, or Public Domain -
This might become a feast for others to attack ATProto. 😅
Close, open, close, open. 😅
People first, not platforms, not protocols. #BringDownTheWalls #BuildBridgesNotWalls

The ultimate goal since the #Fediverse was born in 2008 has always been to #BringDownTheWalls, that will never change. 😁

Meanwhile Loops is still under heavy development. Once it's green, it will be Federated as well. Welcome to the Open #SocialWeb where we believe in #BringDownTheWalls & #BuildBridgesNotWalls. Interoperability is key.

@miscosicas I've been a victim of identity theft, and this "cloning" be it without or within the Fediverse, is not even close to the real deal. And I've been a victim as well of people talking about me without knowing it, because they took a screenshot of what I said, _privately_ at that, and posted it elsewhere I didn't know until someone told me.
My only options were (a) ignore it (a.k.a. don't feed the trolls); (b) sue them; and/or (c) make a statement.
Evil people, and people who hates us for some reason only them knows, will always find ways to make our lives miserable. Been there, a lot of times. But here I am, still using social networks and believes in #BringDownTheWalls and #BuildBridgesNotWalls since 2008 when the Fediverse first went online.
Right now, there's no one solution that won't affect the innocents just because of some undesirables. Personally, the innocents far outweighs those undesirables. 🙂

It's primarily the Mastodon.social people who are mostly Twitter refugees and were brainwashed by Meta and Twitter to think like them. They're usually the same people who call the Fediverse "Mastodon" despite the developer of their software saying otherwise.
It's actually the same over at ATmosphere, brainwashed refugees forcing their own Meta/Twitter mindset on the network, despite the developers saying otherwise. 🤦🏽🤷🏽
What they want is another Meta/Twitter. Walled-garden network, but since none of them can build a social network by themselves, they are desperate in taking over the the most popular software (Mastodon in Fediverse's case) and the network itself (in ATmosphere's case).

And in this particular case, they don't care about opt-in, it's anti-person, complete hatred and attack on a person, they don't care if there are innocents affected by their attacks. (Like what terrorist groups do.)
They're Twitter refugees. They were brainwashed by Meta and Twitter. They think no differently than Meta and Twitter. They're practically the same group who is anti-Threads, "predicting" EEE.
What they're doing now is literally the social version of EEE.
Step 1: Mass refugee migrations
Step 2: Establish themselves
Step 3: Pretend they're pro-openness and federation
Step 4: Create issues that weren't there since social network federation started in 2008
Step 5: Gather together, throw accusations here and there
Step 6: Take over the narrative even if they destroy the goal of the developers behind ActivityPub, ATproto, Nostr, Mastodon®, Bluesky, etc. Because after all, developers must bend to the will of the loudest voices.
LMAO.

#DDFON = Decentralized, Distributed, Federated, Open Network. Aside from the above mentioned ones, in the Instant Messenger space we have #Jabber ( #XMPP) and #Matrix (Matrix) as well. Did I miss any? #BringDownTheWalls #BuildBridges #BuildBridgesNotWalls #SocialWeb #Web3

It's fine for developers to champion their own protocol and software, obviously you should be. But for the rest of us, it's much better to just be an advocate of #BringDownTheWalls & #BuildBridges / #BuildBridgesNotWalls. It's fine to have favourites, but try to avoid #ProtocolWars / #NetworkWars.

It's The #ATmosphere network, #Bluesky is just one of many #Federated "servers" running on #ATproto protocol. It's part of the larger/umbrella term #SocialWeb (a.k.a. #OpenSocial ) where the objective (s. 2005) is to #BringDownTheWalls (and #BuildBridges ). #DDFON #MycelialWeb 1/2

Talk about #DDFON (Decentralized, Distributed, Federated, Open, Network) (friendly name: #MycelialWeb), the latest iteration of #Libravatar is now using a federated software.
I think it has been that way after the service was transferred to a new team.
Having said that… what if #ActivityPub or at least the various platforms connected to the #Fediverse mycelium network, use Libravatar?
For this to work though, Libravatar would have to be updated with a new verification process to handle the non-email ActivityPub webfinger. (And I'm not sure if there are other stuff that has to be updated/added.)
If my memory serves me right, #Friendica and #Hubzilla are already doing this, although as a plugin the admin can toggle (but based on the email address attached to the account).

Contrary to what is written on Wikipedia, the claims by blockchain enthusiasts that “Web3” was first coined in 2014 by an Ethereum co-founder, the term “Web3” has been around since 2007, at least according to these online records:
* https://twitter.com/loic/status/280887522
* https://twitter.com/loic/status/364794132
* https://twitter.com/loic/status/484783372
* https://twitter.com/loic/status/493463552It was Loic Le Meur who first coined it, the brain behind #LeWeb3 conference in France. Web3, or Web3.0 (whichever you prefer to use), is about the #SocialWeb, also called the #OpenSocialWeb, and how #Web3 should be decentralised, distributed, federated, and an open network (#DDFON).
Web3 is broad, and blockchain is just one part of it, **not** _the_ Web3.
Also, the argument that there's a difference between “Web3” and “Web3.0” is invalid. If you track, at least what's on Twitter, the two have always been interchangeable. (Also see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web3 )
So, for whatever it's worth, it's all Web3. No one truly owns the term because it has always been about the decentralisation, distribution, federation, and openness of the Web. Different means, same objective: #BringDownTheWalls and #BuildBridges.

@panos Exactly!
I use non-fedi platforms simply because the people that matters to me are still using those platforms. I cannot just cut communication with them when those platforms became part of their daily lives. And if I need to get in touch with them, it's the best way to do so.
Thus, if we can #BringDownTheWalls, as is and still is the objective of the #Fediverse, then it is good for everyone. When that day comes, I can use a fediverse service and still keep in touch with whatever platform important people in our lives want to use.
It is not like we haven't tried to “convert” them since 2008 when the fediverse first went online. It is not like there hasn't been so many exposed issues about corporate-ran SNS. We've also had numerous “delete your account” _movements_, but most people in our lives still use those platforms anyway.
They made their choice and we should respect that. So, we should focus on bringing-down-the-walls instead of forcing people to do this and that; so us who made our choice to be in the fediverse, can continue to communicate with them.

CW: Long post/reply
> Three, vice versa, Mastodon and its users rejecting the culture of non-Mastodon projects whenever it differs from Mastodon's. Many Mastodon users want everything that is "un-Mastodon-like" banned all across the whole Fediverse because it disturbs them, be it posts over 500 characters, be it quotes, be it "quote-tweets", be it text formatting in any way. However, all this stuff is perfectly normal and absolutely part of the culture everywhere outside of Mastodon.
1. Character limitation. It's funny that it is a reason because three are Mastodon-powered instances (a lot in fact) with more than 500.
2. What the "purists" did not realise is that the customizable number of characters has been part of the Fediverse since the first Fediverse managed service launched: StatusNet "hosting", in 2008. @-lnxwalt was very active in posting different content on the different length instances back then.
3. To add to what you mentioned, another reason they hate #Threads is because they supposedly introduced something that isn't part of #Mastodon and #ActivityPub, dots in username.
But it has been around years before Instagram even thought about Threads (assuming they came up with the project during the #TwitterMigration ). You'll often see it from website-based AP implementations. @[email protected]
Also, the reasoning "not in ActivityPub" is well, Mastodon is as guilty of that since the discussions of AP started. Since Mastodon was successful in positioning itself at the proper place, everyone ended up / was forced to implement Mastodon-only stuff just so their software will be interoperable with it, even though it isn't part of ActivityPub.
Most "Mastodon purists", as well as, "ActivityPub gatekeepers" use reasons that can't stand; and their solution is fragmentation or contrary to what the Fediverse is, and what AP was made for. Basically, they want to go back to the way things are: "siloed networks" or "walled-gardens".
#BringDownTheWalls has been the goal of the Fediverse since 2008, and even before that when #SocialWeb discussions started (even in related conferences).
-
1. That the #Fediverse network is Mastodon; and #Mastodon is the Fediverse.
2. That Mastodon is a network when it is not, it is a software.
3. That the fediverse is small.
4. That the fediverse is competing against this and that #SNS; and its objective is to end them. Truth is, there is no such objective, since 2008 (and earlier), the objective has always been to #BringDownTheWalls.
5. That the fediverse is new. It started in 2008. (See: https://codeberg.org/ddfon/federated-sns ), and discussions about a #FederatedWeb started years before that.
6. That the fediverse is only a #microblogging network. In reality, there are software for fediverse blogging, photo sharing, book reviews, podcasting, and video hosting, to mention a few.
7. That the fediverse will eventually close down like all others. Again, it started in early 2008, that's 16 years ago, and it's still here.
-
@evan Voted for “Strongly agree” because that's the original goal and still is the goal when the discussion about #SocialWeb and #Federation started in 2005; and when you launched the first version of the #Fediverse in 2008.
