Well, either there was just an explosion near my house in Brighton Center or a very large tree just came down. That was quite a dramatic noise.

Our street in #Brighton now. This was after one of the trucks left. Apparently a "small oven fire" in a quad decker. A few firefighters ran in, then one came out to get a fire extinguisher, then another one came out to get a fan, I assume to clear out the smoke to confirm the fire was out. They're putting away the hoses now, so I guess we're safe.
I think the college kids in this rental are going to have some explaining to do to the landlord tomorrow.

Spouse and I went out for breakfast #today at https://inhousecafe.com/ in #Brighton. They have an outdoor "bar" in front of the cafe. It was a chilly day, and there were no chairs at the bar when we got there. We asked if we could eat outside, and they cheerfully moved two chairs outside, cleaned off a section of the bar, and served us outside. This, plus the fact that the chocolate chip pancakes were delicious, earns them a big 👍 from me. #BrightonMA #Boston #BostonMA #dining #CovidCautious

Final thoughts on working the polls today in #Boston #BrightonMA:
Turnout was quite high.
However, if the longtime poll workers are remembering correctly, turnout was lower than in 2020. I'm not convinced they're remembering correctly. We'll see when the totals for the whole state are in and we can compare them.

I feel guilty every time I post with the hashtag #Brighton instead of #BrightonMA, but nobody else seems to use #BrightonMA so if I used that tag my posts wouldn't get seen, and using both tags seems stupid.
If only the folks on both sides of the pond could have a colloquium on the topic and mutually agree that we'll use #BrightonMA and they'll use #BrightonUK and everybody will be happy. It's a pleasant fantasy. -

Hello #Boston #BostonMA peeps, especially #Brighton #BrightonMA! FYI the #FaneuilLibrary will be reopening January 25! In my opinion they've done a wonderful job renovating the exterior, and I'm really looking forward to finding out if the newly renovated interior is equally nice!
We loved the librarians who worked there before the move, so we hope they will be returning, though obviously they may have moved on to other jobs. -

After four failed attempts to get the new #COVID #vaccine, I finally succeeded at the #Osco pharmacy inside the #StarMarket in #BrightonMA. There was no line and I was in and out in 15 minutes. I'm going to post lessons learned for other people trying to be vaccinated in a separate post.

I suppose it's a lost cause, but in recognition of the fact that the US is not alone in the world, I've always tried to use #BostonMA and #BrightonMA rather than #Boston and #Brighton.
I know that our UK friends living in these eponymous towns were indeed on Twitter where I first learned to do this. I can't tell if they're here because on #Mastodon hashtag search only shows you posts they are already federated to your instance, but 🤷 I assume they are. #Fediquette #Netiquette
