Heute gibt es wieder größeren Lesestoff als Missing Link von mir bei Heise Online. Ich gehe der Frage nach, wann gibt es in den USA echten Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr Verkehr. Das größte Potenzial sehe ich bei der Brightline West zwischen LA und Las Vegas. Der Rest sieht schlecht aus.

In den USA geht's gerade Schlag auf Schlag. Erst Caltrain im Valley, dann Microsoft mit Soundtransit und jetzt die Ankündigung, dass Siemens die Züge für Brightline West liefern wird.

@RM_Transit #BrightlineWest and #CAHSR will both ultimately depend on how they can connect to city centers after the initial phases they're in are completed.

I'd like to see Daddy Newsome just bring in the Bully Pulpit and get it done.

Both projects, if they can connect to Union Station will be very very popular when completed, and a massive boom to SoCal

The FRA just announced the #PassengerRail corridors which will be receiving #federal grants for planning, including #HighSpeedRail. This includes, but is not limited to #BrightlineWest, #California HSR, and a high speed rail line in #Texas.

On this #map the corridors selected are shown. Grey lines are existing routes not selected, solid blue lines are existing corridors that were selected, dashed blue and dashed red lines are new routes, with the dashed red lines being #HSR.

Over the past day I've seen a bunch of news about federal #HighSpeedRail grants, but no official announcement from the DOT yet.

So far I've seen:
* $3B for #California #HSR
* $3B for #BrightlineWest (#LasVegas to LA)
* $1B for #Raleigh NC to #Richmond VA

But I haven't seen anything announced for #AmtrakCascades or #CascadiaRail. Did the #PNW get left out?
