For $REASONS, I wanted to buy something locally. Looking online, I ended up finding it in stock at #Visions, so I bought it there and paid online, and chose the pick up option. Because they do "free" shipping, if you pick up you get a gift card for a few bucks as a discount.
But that gift card expires in, like, a month, so I had $35 burning a hole in my pocket. I went back there today to spend it on a MicroSD card that would just about use the whole amount.
And boy, was it difficult to get them to complete the sale without giving them my name, address, and all the rest. Eventually prevailed, but ... I haven't seen this level of aggressive info collection on walk-in customers since Radio Shack was still a (real) thing.
Do brick-and-mortar retailers not realize just how off-putting this sort of thing is?

If you are looking for an incentive to curb your shopping, consider watching “Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy” on Netflix. Pretty unsettling documentary about Amazon’s unethical practices including shutting down employee dissent. Also exposes where donated clothing winds up most of the time (spoiler alert: not in thrift shops) as well as the corruption in the recycling industry.
I wasn’t crazy about the production, but the content was very eye-opening.

It is increasingly apparent that #Australian #brickandmortar brands do not have the design fortitude to ensure their #ecommerce experiences offer seamless, premium flows. Instead, they grasp and heave at every pattern and widget which they ken, frantic to ensure no opportunity should go to waste. The result is a decidedly embarrassing experience.

I love and own pixel 8. It's a great device, a solid upgrade over pixel 6a. Love the tensor g3, the 256gb storage, the multiple user profiles part of stock android for completely separate user spaces.
One thing that the pixel brand could use is more physical brick and mortar retail stores. Like, google should commit to opening more physical brick and mortar stores. If there's an issue with a pixel phone, people should have a sort of "spectacle" "apple-esque" like shop to bring it to to diagnose and fix the issues.
Google had 3 stores. 2 are in new york city and one is in Boston.
What would it take for them to open 50 stores - at least one in each state?
What would it take for them to open 20 stores? - at least one in each of the 20 biggest us cities?

Larry Flynt & HUSTLER rubbed folks the wrong way. His tools were shameless sex, brutal honesty, vulgar humor, and calling out political & celebrity hypocrisy.
His journey began with strip-clubs here in Dayton. "The Hustler" was a newsletter for his clubs–a fact usually ignored in local PR.
Of the big 3 men's mags, his is the only one still in print.

In the '70s, Dad humbly advertised occasional offerings in Rocket's Blast ComiCollector (RBCC); a fanzine of renown that ran from the '60s to the '80s. This photo is one of those nearly 50 year old listings. It's an interesting look back at comic collecting before the Internet. Naturally, the listing is no longer valid.

This 1996 book commemorates Olympiad XXVI, held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Our shop was 61 years old.
Today is the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, when WWII Allied forces took back the beaches of Normandy. This shop was 5 years old.
In a few weeks, France will again be focal as World athletes complete in the XXXIII Olympics. The store is 85 years old.
