  1. È arrivato per davvero Brave Origin: browser pulito senza crypto e gratuito su Linux

Brave lancia Origin, versione a pagamento senza funzionalità crypto.

  3. Imagine being a wealthy CEO who spends his time claiming women belong in the kitchen and should not have control of their own bodies. Or that same CEO claiming black lives do not matter. That same CEO claiming love is only love between a man and woman. That same CEO saying, both LGBTQ+ and trans folk suffer from mental illness. Furthermore, claiming that COVID was a hoax, vaccines kill people, and is a firm, Donald Trump supporter.

You probably think, I am talking about Elon Musk, and you likely support the idea of Tesla going bankrupt, as not to support a Nazi. But who I am actually describing is Brendan Eich, the founder and CEO of Brave Browser, but when you tell people that is the case, people will argue "that is different".

  4. Someone else's mentions maybe aren't the place to put this, so I'll put it in my own timeline, where I get to say whatever TF I want:

  5. @EeveeEuphoria you're not wrong about #Brave when it comes to it being associated with everything #BrendanEich stands for but I'm not sure about painting his resignation from #Mozilla as the easy way out.

We know when CEOs resign it isn't always really out of their own choosing despite what the company says and before that he did make conciliatory statements that indicated he was trying to stay. They seem to have fallen short of renouncing any homophobic views though.

Do you know of something that suggests Mozilla would have let him stay if he had done that or if he was already going to have to leave whether he did that or not?

  6. I find it kind of annoying that #JavaScript has both #undefined and #null. Nobody can give a really satisfying answer to why this is other than #BrendanEich decided to have both.

  7. I lament the day when #Netscape executives ordered #BrendanEich to dump #Scheme and design a new, Java-like scripting language that became "The Abominable #JavaScript".

Had Scheme been allowed to drive the browser as Eich originally intended, a cousin of #Emacs would be running the #Web today.

Well into the late 1990s, I used Emacs as my IDE, calendar, organiser, mail client, and web browser. Fun times....

  8. @badgrandpa I'm not going to tell you what you should do about China. I'm telling you why I remind people that Brave is a bit of software funded by VC's to keep a bigot employed.

I get that you may be cool with that. I'm not. And not enough people know who the CEO is or why Brave was founded.

Also, democracy nor freedom of speech have anything to do with this discussion. I am not the government. I am exercising my rights to call him out as a shit person, publicly.

  9. Just a reminder that the guy behind @bravebrowser @brave was kicked from Mozilla for being a bigoted piece of shit, and that he continues to be a piece of shit attacking the health care workers who saved millions of lives during the pandemic.

  10. The other day I was catching up with an old friend who had spent some time working at #Mozilla , from whom I learned about
#BrendanEich , who co-founded it. After ultimately becoming its CEO, in that role he lasted 11 days.

Though my friend described him as a nice guy, to me he seems like a spineless tool of the Catholic church who acted apologetically against democracy.

    He then founded #Brave .

Overall, I like Mozilla #Firefox and Brave #browsers , and prefer them to #Google #Chrome (for its apparent lack of privacy). But getting to know this guy's politics prompted me to install #Opera and #Vivaldi .

  11. @garrett @kappazeta @aral
#BrendanEich’s (alleged or real) eccentricities and bigotries are orthogonal to the merits of #Brave wrt #privacy, or lack thereof. (In that vein, I’m surprised you didn’t mention Eich is also anti gay marriage — but of course that’s irrelevant here, too.)
