New hams, do you have mic fright? Key up on the Worldwide talkgroup. You might wind up in a pileup and… okay, maybe that’s not the best advice. Effective, but not the best.

Just a reminder for ham radio ops: The folks at Brandmeister are total bigots and absolute jackasses who think it's totally cool to attack, harass, and misgender my friends.
There are other ways to use DMR. Don't use BM.

I checked in to the Pride Radio Group net for the first time!
Finally got my #DMR hotspot to work on a network other than #Brandmeister
Looks like #FreeDMR was having trouble, so I connected via #TGIF instead
squeee!

I wrote up my adventures on fixing my #DMR #hotspot on my #blog here,
https://k8vsy.radio/2023/09/recent-adventures-fixing-dmr-hotspot.html
I added some details and tried to cover as much as possible from the threads on here.
My goal is that it might help someone in the future with their own DMR hotspot.

#WPSD is working now with the config page saving successfully!
I had to rewipe the SD card and re-config the Wi-Fi
I got it configured for #Brandmeister and #FreeDMR and I've been able to connect my radio and TX and RX DMR!
This is exciting!
Next step, see if I can get D-Star working for my ID-5100A to this hotspot lol

Well, it looks like I successfully made contact with the #W6SRR "DMR of Anarchy" DMR repeater in San Ramon, CA, at least I could see my own traffic on the #brandmeister hose line. But no comebacks at the moment on TG 31666 or 5150.

It's clear though that #RepeaterBook is less helpful for #DMR information, you really need to know a fair bit about that kind of repeater (networks, talkgroups, time slots, color codes) which that site doesn't capture.

Last night, (Tues March 21st, 2023) as I was driving, I was tuned into the #ColoradoAstronomyNet on #SkyHubLink - #Brandmeister Talkgroup 310847. Net begins Tuesdays at 1900 MTN (2100 Eastern) ~ "[The net] has been on the 146.940 RMRL repeater since 1996 & is very interesting... Not only great astronomical information but interesting subjects related to all things in the heavens!" ~ #HamRadioNets #AmateurRadioNets #DMRnets #DigitalHamRadioNets #TruckerHam #KE0FFTnets ~ https://skyhublink.com/nets/

I haven’t done anything with D-Star yet, although I hypothetically *could* access the mode using my #SharkRF #OpenSPOT3 and #AnyTone878. (I’ve only used #Brandmeister and #TGIFdmr so far). - This looks like a good resource to get an idea of what #HamRadioNets are available on #DStar when the time comes. #AmateurRadioNets #hamr ~ http://www.dstarinfo.com/nets.aspx

Okay, #HamRadio Mastodon, I have a question that I apparently need handholding to answer:
I have a #Radioddity #GD88 that I want to use to send #DMR SMS msgs to #SMSGTE.
I have DMR working. I have a #PiStar working and comms with #BrandMeister.
What specific steps do I need to take to actually get this thing to correctly send a DMR SMS to my phone?
Also trying to get #APRS text messaging working, but that seems like it might be a missing feature, not a lack of understanding.

Thanks Eamo! And I had a nice QSO with @michael DK1MI just now as well.
I did a little writeup about a month ago about #FediHams at
with stories of use through #Peanut #Echolink and #Brandmeister #DMR .
My next technical challenge on that net is to connect through the #W8RP #ARROW club DMR repeater via RF mobile so that I can not just be tethered to my hotspot.

If you are interested in a quick overview of the Nordic #brandmeister #dmr repeater structure, i.e. in order to keep your #codeplug updated, you may like this link:
http://robust-packet.st/html/swe-dmr-repeater.html
DNK, FIN, NOR, SWE are fully captured (UHF & VHF) plus a bit of Northern DEU (click flags).
Beside the links shown in the tables, the Google Map below can be downloaded as .kmz. Google Earth refreshes automatically thereafter.
Each icon is linked back to the #brandmeister dashbord to check further details.
