Today I found and bought a lovely vintage shoe shine kit. It's my third. I am now a collector of wooden shoe shine kits. I really don't need to collect anything else but reasoned the brushes (included) would cost me more to buy for my leather work than that kit. Sure, Pecan, keep telling yourself that.
A part of me also says, "Well, you could shine shoes if you can't get work anywhere else" but who wears leather shoes any more? No one needs their sneakers shined. #brainfarts

It did not get that cold out here in NC, but it did get down to 24 F and I forgot to put my outdoor potted plants in the garage. So my cannas, after 10+ yrs, are probably done.

However, I did cover the plot of fava beans in the backyard. They are supposed to be able to tolerate down to 15 F & have done well so far this winter; some are blooming.

The science fiction story I'm currently writing has suddenly decided it wants to be two stories. Always fun when that happens.
