While I’m amazed and mesmerized with the court outcome today, I’m also having an overwhelming sense of gravity.

I think no matter what the jury had returned, I would have been amazed. The very spectacle itself is amazing. Justice was carried out by the very happening of a fair trial; I’m thankful for that and I agree with the verdict.

But this is not good for our country. Celebrating a former president’s conviction is a testament to how off the rails we’ve gotten. MAGA is toxic; Trump himself is and breeds toxicity.

I’m happy for justice. I’m sad for where we are and how we got here. No Trump supporter is going to change their mind because of these convictions, that would’ve happened years ago if their minds were to ever be changed.

History have mercy on us.

When Trump's #DOJ investigated and prosecuted Michael Cohen for his role in the hush money payoff, then Attorney General #BillBarr ordered the Southern District of New York to cease its investigation of #MichaelCohen’s co-conspirator--Donald #Trump.

The failure of the DOJ to pursue Trump in 2018 was #PoliticalCorruption at its height. The fact that Manhattan District Attorney #AlvinBragg picked up the prosecution three years later is a credit to #Bragg—not a ground for criticism.

The prosecutor in Donald Trump’s upcoming hush money trial has asked the judge to clarify whether a gag order issued for the former president this week bars him from publicly attacking the judge’s adult daughter — and to expand the order if it doesn’t.

Manhattan DA suggests one-month delay in Trump hush money trial

New York prosecutors preparing for the expected March 25 start of Donald Trump’s first criminal trial threw a wrench into that schedule Thursday by suggesting a 30-day delay, responding to complaints from the former president’s lawyers that evidence had been unfairly withheld until the 11th hour.

Manhattan District Attorney #Alvin #Bragg (D) notified the court that his office had just received “approximately 31,000” pages of additional records from federal prosecutors in New York, who previously investigated the 2016 #hushmoney payments that are the basis of Bragg’s charges against Trump.

House Republicans are exhausting all their options and making a last-ditch effort to dismantle Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s probe into hush money allegedly paid by former President Donald Trump to a porn star with whom he allegedly had an affair.

House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim #Jordan (R-OH) announced Wednesday night that he had sent letters to two #former #prosecutors–both of whom resigned from the DA’s office last year after a clash over the direction of the investigation–“demanding” documents and testimony relating to Bragg’s probe into alleged hush money payments the former president organized for adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Jordan sent the letters to Carey #Dunne, former Manhattan Special Assistant District Attorney, and Mark #Pomerantz, former New York County Special Assistant District Attorney, as reports from the courthouse continue to indicate a Trump indictment is likely.

The pair had been leading the criminal investigation into Trump under then-District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

When #Vance left and #Bragg took office in February of last year, Bragg asked them to stay—but both resigned in protest because Bragg had “indicated to them that he had doubts about moving forward with a case against Mr. Trump,” The New York Times reported at the time.

The investigation was ultimately suspended. Pomerantz then took the extraordinary step of releasing a book last month about the investigation, People vs. Donald Trump: An Inside Account.

In the new letter, Jordan describes the possible indictment of a former president as an “unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority.”

“Your criticisms of Bragg’s investigation were widely reported,” Jordan wrote, and “it now appears that your efforts to shame Bragg have worked as he is reportedly resurrecting a so-called ‘zombie’ case.”

The letter requests the pair testify during a “transcribed #interview about these matters as soon as possible,” along with #submitting other #documents and communications.

It is unclear whether the former prosecutors will agree to testify—though it would appear unlikely.

Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News Wednesday night, Jordan said he wanted to know “what changed.”

“The only thing that changes... is that President Trump announces he’s running for president,” Jordan said
