So yeah, the local #GirlsClub was a big part of my life. My Greek- and Lebanese-American cousins who lived in the neighborhood showed me how to cook in the Club's kitchen. Adult relatives attempting to teach me cooking was always a bit problematic for me. But my cousins were patient and kind (and silly), and having our "own" kitchen to experiment in was brilliant -- as long as we cleaned up afterwards!

"Veteran teachers from his school corrected him when he spoke without raising his hand and offered common-sense advice when a boy in his group said something inappropriate.

" 'When someone says something inappropriate, you don’t repeat it,' teacher Kayla Creighton told the boys between answering their questions about horseflies and honeybees.

"Indeed, it’s hard to find a more middle-of-the road organization in this country than the Boys & Girls Club.

"Just last month, a Republican and a Democrat sponsored a resolution in the U.S. House celebrating the 165-year-old organization as a 'beacon of hope and opportunity.' The Defense Department awarded the club $3 million in 1991 to support children left behind when their parents deployed for the Persian Gulf. And ever since, the Boys & Girls Club has created clubs on military installations to support the children of service members. Military families can sign up their kids for free.

Le #boysclub de #MartineDelvaux, ce cercle fermé d'hommes permet de se débarrasser de la présence féminine perçue comme gênante, de se créer un réseau basé sur la solidarité masculine, d'exercer sa violence en toute impunité envers les autres membres (qui oseraient se plaindre, on est pas des chochottes) et aussi à l'extérieur (protection par les autres membres). Il est un lieu où on peut s'exprimer plus librement puisque les "bonfemmes" ne peuvent être choquées.

Whenever I hear or see anyone bitching about #DEI as the cause of anything negative, especially in #aviation, they're automatically outing themselves as #sexist & #racist. The ones wanting the return to the exclusive #boysclub days are the same ones welcoming #fascism back.

Da hat der Podcast #BoysClub natürlich nicht dazu geführt, dass man sich Gedanken über den eigenen Betrieb macht!
Also wird jetzt gegen Jan als Produzent eine Hetzkampagne gefahren, ohne den Podcast zu erwähnen.
Geht doch indirekter, indem eine Frau, die bekanntermaßen den Fakt, dass es mehr als zwei Geschlechter gibt leugnet, auf eine ältere ZMR-Ausgabe ansetzt, die das thematisiert hat.

Gute Frage! Die hat mich auch beschäftigt. Ich pendelte in der 6. Folge von #BoysClub ganz oft zwischen «Scheiss Macho Kultur!!» und «Sind die dumm. In einem so kaputten Laden ist nichts anderes zu erwarten».
Dann hab ich mich gefragt, was kann ich machen, dass meine Kinder nicht in diese Fallen tappen werden?
Es kann uns allen passieren!! Das ist wichtig zu checken! (Kennst Du das Milgram Experiment?). Wir müssen die Mechanismen kennen und die werden sehr gut aufgezeigt.
