Should you *encourage* small business owners like me to move to a new host? Absolutely.
But Boycotting #Shopify right now hurts small business owners way more than it hurts Tobi Lutke, especially in the short term.
I don't know what the solution is. I don't have one. I just want to write books. But publishing books is expensive, which is why I'd like to be able to sell some books too. You know?

Small business like mine are often paid up a year in advance. And moving to a new host is expensive and complicated.
Shopify makes its most of its money from business owners, not from consumers.

@LinuxAndYarn @parismarx Ok, I have found a relatively easy way to identify whether a shop is hosted by Shopify so one can make an informed decision about how to proceed.
Visit https://myip.ms, then enter the domain name of the online shop you are checking on the top search field. Click the "Whois Lookup" button. The report that comes up will clearly state whether or not that domain is hosted by Shopify.
I'm done patronizing scumbag, anti-labor, right-wing businesses.
