The main reason I want an independent encryption solution is to add another layer, not use only #iCloud or #Dropbox etc.

#Boxcryptor ist bei mir seit heute Geschichte. Die Daten, bei Google Drive und Onedrive, sind zum
#Cryptomator umgezogen.
Die Tests der letzten Wochen ergaben, dass Cryptomator für mich ein guter Ersatz für Boxcryptor ist.
Er gibt prinzipielle Unterschiede, die sind aber OK.

@kuketzblog ich nutze iCloud mit #Boxcryptor, aber die wurden ja leider vor kurzem von Dropbox gekauft. Außerdem ist die App unter iOS manchmal sehr unzuverlässig. Ich warte gespannt auf Apples Advanced Data Protection (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212520).

@achisto ya, latest #Boxcryptor release was/is terrible. At this point I feel lucky to have been able to clone my file base locally (unencrypted) and delete the whole BC+Dropbox setup.

I am far more annoyed about #boxcryptor closing up shop than I thought I would be. I need another app (ideally FOSS) that lets me "share" a file to it to be encrypted and put in a storage area. That was the best part of it! #MEGA is what I am using in the meantime but that is not encrypting files, just the cloud space. #encryption #foss #android #windows #privacy
