Учора шукав заміну #BoxCryptor, це прозоре шифрування даних в хмарі. Наприклад, вказуєте папку #DropBox або #Googledrive в себе на компьютері, та весь її контент буде шифруватись. Якщо буде витік даних, або зловмисники отримують доступ до ваших хмарних даних, то нічого корисного вони там не знайдуть.
Я зберігаю в такий папці дані по криптогаманцям, коди відновлення акаунтів, та іншу важливу інформацію.
Причина зміни інструмента - BoxCryptor був викуплений DropBox та вони закрили цей сервіс. Знайшов непогану #OSS альтернативу у виді #Cryptomator. Потестую ще тиждень, але перші враження непогані.

Одразу прийшлось оновити #BoxCryptor та #Bartender, бо вони не захотіли працювати без оновлення. З помітного - тільки стартовий екран оновився ;-)

Now when #Boxcryptor is dead (bought by Dropbox and ceased to service old clients) what should one use? Looking for a cloud encryption client that works fluently on all Apple platforms. The main reason I want an independent encryption solution is to add another layer, not use only #iCloud or #Dropbox etc.

#Cryptomator umgezogen.
Die Tests der letzten Wochen ergaben, dass Cryptomator für mich ein guter Ersatz für Boxcryptor ist.
Er gibt prinzipielle Unterschiede, die sind aber OK. -

@kuketzblog ich nutze iCloud mit #Boxcryptor, aber die wurden ja leider vor kurzem von Dropbox gekauft. Außerdem ist die App unter iOS manchmal sehr unzuverlässig. Ich warte gespannt auf Apples Advanced Data Protection (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212520).

@achisto ya, latest #Boxcryptor release was/is terrible. At this point I feel lucky to have been able to clone my file base locally (unencrypted) and delete the whole BC+Dropbox setup.

I am far more annoyed about #boxcryptor closing up shop than I thought I would be. I need another app (ideally FOSS) that lets me "share" a file to it to be encrypted and put in a storage area. That was the best part of it! #MEGA is what I am using in the meantime but that is not encrypting files, just the cloud space. #encryption #foss #android #windows #privacy

Ich würde damit nicht zu warten, sondern möglichst schnell reagieren, selbst wenn das Konto erst in ein paar Monaten abläuft.Als Alternative empfehle ich #Cryptomator ist quelloffen und für alle OS/Systeme verfügbar.

Übrigens: #BoxCryptor schickt Kündigungen raus... wer das nutzt, sollte FIX seinen Key downloaden und sein Konto auf Lokal umstellen oder eben alles entschlüsseln und eine andere Lösung benutzen (vielleicht @cryptomator).

@egtr Boxcryptor hat einfach funktioniert und wenn es nun Zeit ist, dann werde ich mal #Crytomator testen. Soweit kann man sich eine portable Version mit den passenden Schlüsseln herunterladen um #Boxcryptor weiter benutzen zu können. Wer benutzt noch Dropbox?
