GLENDALE, Ariz. — The White Sox definitely were thinking outside the box when they hired Zach Bove in November as their latest pitching coach. He walks around camp wearing a black T-shirt with the inscription “My Strengths, Their Problems”...

  2. The top criminal prosecutor in the Washington, DC,
    US Attorney’s Office, #Denise #Cheung,
resigned Tuesday after declining a request from her Trump-appointed superiors
to open a grand jury investigation that she viewed as premature

The direction originated from #Emil #Bove, the department’s acting deputy attorney general,
to #Ed #Martin, whom Trump has nominated as permanent DC US Attorney.

🔥Cheung, a long-time DOJ employee, had been asked to shepherd an investigation into an Environmental Protection Agency funding decision during the Biden administration and then use DOJ’s powers to freeze that funding.

  3. It was #EmilBove who on Mon ordered the US atty in Manhattan, #DanielleSassoon, to move to dismiss the case. She refused &, yesterday, resigned. Several other #DOJ prosecutors also resigned rather than put their names on the motion to dismiss. Now, at the end of the week, #Bove’s own signature is on the motion.

The judge in the case, Dale Ho, will have the opportunity to question the DOJ ofcls, if he chooses to do so, about why to end the prosecution against Mayor #EricAdams.

  4. ‘Scare tactic’: Bonta slams Trump move targeting local officials over immigration

As part of Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, the Department of Justice will be attempt to investigate and even criminally prosecute government officials who do not comply with restrictive orders on immigration.

The move, outlined in an internal memo reported by multiple news outlets Wednesday, effectively puts a target on the backs of many state and local California officials, who have vociferously defended measures designed to make it possible for undocumented immigrants to work and get an education in the state.

The memo from acting U.S. Deputy Atty. Gen. #Emil #Bove instructs state and local officials to comply with federal immigration directives and echoes lines Trump hammered on the campaign trail about the threat of undocumented immigrants in the country

California Atty. Gen. #Rob #Bonta said in a statement:
"This is a scare tactic, plain and simple. The president is attempting to intimidate and bully state and local law enforcement into carrying out his mass deportation agenda for him,”

“My team is reviewing the U.S. Department of Justice’s memo, and we’ll be prepared to take legal action if the Trump Administration’s vague threats turn to illegal action.”

    Bonta pointed to California’s #sanctuary #law
    — approved in 2017 and known as "Senate Bill 54"
    — which bars local law enforcement agencies from using public money to play a direct role in immigration enforcement
and prohibits police from transferring people to immigration authorities except in certain cases,
such as when people have been convicted of certain violent felonies and misdemeanors.

  8. The #jurors just again heard #Pecker’s #testimony that the reason he was purchasing negative stories on #Trump’s behalf was to benefit his presidential campaign.

Defense atty Emil #Bove cross-examined Pecker, & jurors are hearing part of that cross now. Bove elicited testimony that Pecker misremembered the exact date of the Aug 2015 meeting, & more generally that Pecker was testifying about events from a long time ago.

  9. #Trump atty #Bove agrees the sentence is an accurate recitation of the “irrespective rule” (found in #FECA’s § on personal use) but defense wants examples included for the jury from the #FEC’s prior application of the rule.

  10. #Hoffinger’s final question is an accusation: whether #RobertCostello’s testimony to Congress was meant to #intimidate #MichaelCohen as he testified in this trial. Costello asked her to repeat the question & then denied the accusation. “No,” he said. “Ridiculous.”

#Trump atty #Bove, is on redirect. Costello testifies that Cohen said in April 2018 that he would be “eternally grateful” for the help & guidance that Costello had given him in those difficult days.

  11. #Cassano alla DS: “#Mourinho è ormai bollito del tutto, non può più allenare. È rimasto a 10 anni fa. Non faceva giocare #Paredes e preferiva #Bove a #Pellegrini. Per non parlare di #Karsdorp. #DeRossi ha dato convinzione alla #Roma che è forte: sta facendo lavoro straordinario”
