@Carenanaas an awful lot of people — two thirds of all those who voted #SNP on the constituency ballot — did vote #BothVotesSNP. We don't have any evidence that anyone voted both votes #Green, but voters in only 8.9% of constituencies could have, so certainly not very many. If more SNP voters had voted Green on the list, we would have more #ScottishIndependence MSPs although fewer of them might have been SNP.
Which party would have lost seats under those circumstances I don't know.

@radiojammor Yes, this is pretty much what I was suspecting. The #SNP's crazy, selfish, tribal, unpatriotic #BothVotesSNP was really a dagger to the heart of the #ScottishIndependence movement.
They sabotaged #IndyRef2 with 'only SNP votes count to a mandate', and they sabotaged a potentially overwhelming pro-indy majority with 'both votes SNP'.
Tribal politician are the curse of Scotland.

@BarneyDellar @ScottishGreens I think that virtually all of the actual #SNP voters did vote #BothVotesSNP.
Mind you, only very detailed polling could test whether that hunch is true.

@acs @ScottishGreens Yes, that's true. But I don't have the intellectual muscle this afternoon to compute the possible ripple through.
It's a bloody good thing for #ScottishIndependence, though, that so many people voted #SNP constituency, #Green list, because if we'd all voted 'both votes' for our favourite party, we would probably not have a pro-independence majority.
#BothVotesSNP was always a 'party before country' slogan -- anti-independence slogan.

CW: Scottish election vote share
@patrickhadfield H'mmm... When you look at the full figures, only 38.2% of the electorate voted #SNP on the constituency vote (full disclosure, I'm one of those, and I am *not* an SNP supporter these days!) So when you say that 27% voted SNP on the list, that's 71.2% of SNP voters.
#BothVotesSNP has always been a party-before-country, anti-independence policy. Yes, it certainly boosted #ReformUKLtd's seats at the expense of @ScottishGreens.
