One of my summer jobs as a young university student was helping develop a botanic garden. I illustrated signs & a pamphlet about eastern woodland trees and herbs. I thought I was a good artist, until the botanist I worked with told me my drawings were all wrong. Hal Hines taught me to look much more closely at the things I was drawing. He also introduced me to an herbarium with botanic specimens over 100 years old. I’m glad he took me under his wing. #SummerJob #Botany #BotanicIllustration
