  1. If you know of somewhere in the #Boston area where I can either get a dehumidifier fixed for less than it would cost to buy a new one (about $200) or donate it for them to fix up and resell (or if you want to take it yourself), please let me know.
I don't have the time or skills for it to be cost-effective to figure out what's wrong and fix it myself, but I hate to just throw the whole thing away when it's fixable. I mean, it could just need the refrigerant recharged.

  2. I was excited to learn, thanks to a flyer at my door, that #DanielLander is challenging #Massachusetts State Senator #WillBrownsberger.
I was once a Brownsberger fan, but my enthusiasm waned as his progressivism did. My last straw was his refusal to support the unionization of legislature staff.
I don't know if Lander can beat him, but Brownsberger needs to feel heat from the left.

  3. This is your periodic reminder that the City of #Boston is pretty much always looking for new poll-workers. You can make a bit of money, get to know your neighbors (if you work the polls in your neighborhood), and help preserve democracy.
You need to be a US citizen living in Massachusetts (but not necessarily Boston).

I've been doing this for several years, so feel free to ask me any questions you have.

  4. Would I happen to know anyone in the Boston area who has a portable XRF analyzer?

I'm curious to see how it works for soil lead testing, but *also* to talk to someone about what the care and feeding of these analyzers is like in practice, and how feasible it might be to set up a program for helping people in the area test their soil, including raised beds.

(I've been thinking of buying one for this purpose, as prices are down a bit.)

  5. From @quinn I learned to be grateful that I have seen the tops of clouds. From living in Boston I learned to be grateful that I have lived to see the spring blossoms again. Few things are more tear-inducingly beautiful than cherry blossom rain. #BostonMA #CambridgeMA #spring #flowers
