So, I've studied Genesis translations from the original Hebrew. "God" is described as both female / #NonBinary ("El Chaddai" -- the god with breasts) and also a plurality (Elohim is plural). But apparently, the "God of War" won out on the pantheon, but that's another story...

However, judging by the earliest texts, it's say it's pretty clear that God is a they/them, and doesn't have a problem with whatever gender folks embrace.

The teachers at the new school encouraged all the students to write essays about the #AmericanRevolution -- the prize being a trip to Philadelphia to participate in the #Bicentennial. I managed to win the contest with a very graphic essay about #GeorgeWashington's troops in #ValleyForge (mentioning the possibility of #cannibalism -- one of my obsessions at the time, along with Zombies). Anyhow, in order to participate in the parade, we had to dress in period clothes. I *insisted* on having a boy-man's uniform (which I made in a very public interview with the local press), and I got my way! And marched with the boys/men, with the fife and drum squad and flag bearers (I played the flute). Unfortunately, I was there by myself, with no family to take photos of me. But here's a photo of the group I was part of. And bonus... I got to spend the night at Valley Forge, telling my tales of Revolutionary cannibalism!

I just came across one of my old essays [I called them "Thots"] on #Personhood, written on February 3, 1982.

"I look at myself and what do I see? I see a person. Not a girl, not a woman, not a homo sapien, not a citizen, not a statistic. Just a person.

I am wearing dark blue knit stockings, slightly faded jeans, a plaid shirt, and an old denim vest; and somehow, these things are part of me. I am not just wearing them -- they are an extension of my persona. Persona. Personality. Not girl-ality, woman-ality, homo sapien-ality, but PERSON-ality. Ah, at least someone out there agrees that I am a person and things that pertain to me are person-related. I like that.

When I 'am' a person, there is no pressure for me to think or behave a certain way. I can just be me -- relaxed, comfortable, happy. I also feel that my style of dress sometimes reflects this person-ness. At least it does as I am writing this [still true].

Also, being a person, I can also be whatever else I feel like being. I can be a feminine person, a masculine person, an eccentric person, a nice person, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Which would you rather be? A fixed label or a flexible person?"
