Probable good news. For those of us living or working in Cumbria.
It's almost free money. The tourism industry here offers a discount card for locals, called MyCumbria. That costs £20 a year.
One of the offers is 4×6=£24 discounts at Booths supermarkets.
OK, yes, Booths isn't cheap (think Waitrose). So. Sad to say, free money is only for Booths-level families.

Strangely.. being offered 72 lettuces 🥬 was not the largest or strangest #CommunityFridge donation we have received. The week before Christmas we collected 93 cauliflowers from #Booths - some were badly frost damaged and went to feed lots of chickens..the rest were swiftly delivered to various local charities and businesses and used to make large amounts of soup and cauliflower cheese for our #PublicLivingRoom and #CommunityFridge

Our local posh supermarket #Booths had a batch of #cauliflower that had been badly affected by frost damage. Some were ok or ok ish but they took the decision to give the lot to us at the #Community fridge.. so..what to do with 93 of them...first up.. free festive gift for everyone who wanted one at our #PublicLivingRoom Room

In our little corner of #NorthYorkshire we run a #CommunityFridge and collect surplus veg and other stuff from local supermarkets to use or pass on. We have an #organic allotment run mostly #biodynamic with a lot of #CompanionPlanting. We share lots of heritage and saved seeds and pass on fruit cuttings, perennial seeds and surplus veg and flower plants to share around the community. Just pondering how we can scale up to do a bit more. Huge thanks to #Hubbub #Coop #Booths for their support but we could do so much more if we weren't always firefighting and dealing with people in crisis as the systems collapse around us...sigh..

@johnyNocash However if you want real #Lancashire #crisps you can try Fiddlers Lancashire Crisps grown and produced in #Ormskirk I think they are available from #Booths and also at Barton Grange garden centre or online from their website.

A little local news for the #NorthWest as #Booths (often, not entirely accurately referred to as the Waitrose of the North) have been subject of a #fraud over #beef origin labelling... oops

We use InstaVolt based in the Booths supermarkets.

Fast charge and decent coffee and cake.
Lytham has a bistro so we grab something to eat after the game before heading off.
