  1. Still reading

I'm on chapter 49 now, which is around 91% of the book, and stakes are at stake now

I feel like some big stuff is coming, send help

  2. It feels very reckless for Chono and Six to talk so openly, for Six to let their disguise slip so much, in "private". We know this society can do surveillance; even if you have scrambling tech, changes in body language will be noted if seen by someone.

Reckless, or more likely the author didn't think it through.

  3. As last year, I've kept track of the #books I've read (and finished) over the course of the year. So, here's my #books2024 list: carfax.org.uk/files/books-2024

Starred entries are re-reads. From this, you can fairly reliably identify the times when I've been particularly busy or stressed.

  4. I did take the day off today, but I don’t think I can sneak in 2 more books this year, unless I purposefully go after some short ones. I guess I won't hit 150 books this year, not that I was trying, just enjoyed getting lost. #bookstodon #books #books2024

  5. And the final set of books for 2024, ending with the 123rd read of the year, which I've just finished! Apparently my average rating for the year was 4.3, which sounds right - there's been a lot of very good to excellent books this year & only one total dud (dnf & it will remain nameless). I always round up so 3.5 is always marked as 4 etc #bookstodon #books #amreading #books2024

  7. Well, well, it looks like I have been able to successfully get into the #habit of #reading for at least 30 minutes a day this year ✅

  8. From the 122 books I've read in 2024, here's my top 25 in no particular order. As with last year, I've added it to a thread with previous years so you have even more books to choose from! #books #bookstodon #amreading #books2024 #2024

  9. I finished , that was a good one! It was a very different take on a popular trope and I devoured it in three days, just like Farewell, Earth's Bliss.

I have 3 reviews on queue now, and I have read 15 books this year! New record yaaay

    Here are some stats

  10. Continuing my read of

I'm already 3/4 of the way through, very comfy to read at grandma's house †

  11. Je ne pense pas lire bien davantage cette année.

    Petite rétrospective : books.theunseen.city/user/naru

Je suis à ~75% d’autrices, encore plus que l’année passée (66%). L’assassin royal et les détectives du Yorkshire ont quand même bien aidé (28/81) :p

De belles découvertes avec dans le désordre:
    - Lady Astronaute (Mary Robinette Kowal)
    - Tè mawon (Michael Roch)
    - Binti (Nnedi Okorafor)
    - Betty (Tiffany McDaniel)
    - Les Femmes du bout du monde (Mélissa Da Costa)

Et un peu déçu par La parabole du semeur (Octavia E. Butler) qui est bien noté de partout.

  12. Started given yesterday's poll and I like it! I am 51% of the way, I may get to 70% or so today!

    Via my with

  13. I have two announcements to make!

    1. I created a catalogue to list all my books. You can download it here:
    books.creativeramblings.com/wp

It may take a while to load, so be patient.

    2. I have just released a second companion booklet to my digital exhibit. You'll find 24 pieces from the showcase. It's a donation-based release: ko-fi.com/s/8b197f72ff.

Every purchase helps me cover the cost of maintaining my website.

  14. Ok so, I finished by and I found it to be quite thought provoking and an interesting read

I didn't like my edition's cover at all, but I really liked one of the old paperback ones, I liked it so much I did a quick and dirty version of it on Inkscape just because it's so cool.

So instead of sharing stats (Finished it in 7 hours) I share my vectorized version.

The original is better but I am still happy to just art on for once

  15. I'm already 40% of the way into this book, and it's quite interesting. It's about a future where undesirable people are sent to Mars, kind of as a prison, but also as a way for them to develop their own society...

Farewell, Earth's Bliss by DG Compton

The edition I got has quite a bit of typos, but I de-drm'd it so I'm highlighting them to fix later.

  16. Maybe I'll be able to read "Farewell, Earth's Bliss" by D.G. Compton, another piece of that I saw on YouTube before the year ends, it is somewhat aged, but it gets the point across so far, and it seems promising

  17. Book 42 (ish) of 2024 : Witch Hat Atelier Volume 3 Art and story by Kamome Shirahama

The art continues to astound and the story continues to envelope. How can one person do it all?

Master Qifrey continues to be Dreamy (but with hidden brooding depths!)

Also the Magic System is .. intense and so rewarding to mull over!

Might not finish anything else just to have this as last book of the year (or I might immediately read volume 4..)

  18. Book 41 (ish) of 2024: Comic: Kill Your Boyfriend words - Grant Morrison. Art - Philip Bond

Remembered liking this on first reading and now after a reread I'm wondering what kind of head-space I was inhabiting to like.. this.

It's not aged well and apart from vibrant art it's.. it's not good.

I keep reading Grant Morrison's work and I'm not sure why - there's just a strain of Misanthropy that's so sour.

  19. Book 40 (ish) of 2024:

Owl House: Witches Before Wizards: Created by Dana Terrace.

Snuck in another teeny tiny book - 24 pages.

I assume Terrace wrote the book but when I tried to look it up it's only created to 'Disney' (Art and Writing) - which, No.

It's really a pictorial episode recap from the animated show Owl House, but it was delightful.

  20. So unless I manage to finish "The Wedding Hex "by Erin Sterling - my final count of books read for 2024 will be 39 (ish) and the final book finished will be Fangs By Sarah Anderson

    I'm okay with that :)

  21. Well, here is my of by

This book was honestly pretty nice to read and while a bit more niche than what I've read before I still think it's worth a look. A pretty unique plot and setting I think.

This is day 88 of and post 4 for !

  22. Aaaaand I just finished the book. It was actually kind of great, not the usual stuff I would read so I'm glad I went pretty blind into it, I just saw a short review on a whim and decided to try it.

    Review coming soon!

Here are some stats in the meantime ;)

by , book 12 of the year

  23. My 12th book of the year is by btw, I'm not sure I mentioned it already haha.

I started it a few days after I begun since I knew it would be very different and stories wouldn't mix.

Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised, it's much more niche than The Expanse and it can be a bit boring at times because of its more serious tone. But it's such an interesting premise I'm going to finish it today!
