#Lesen #Grimmory #BookLore
  4. Oh man. I didn't use the app for a few weeks, and it seems that #booklore is already dead and I missed all the drama.

Just when I was liking the self hosted comics reader etc.

Anyways I hope the migration to grimmory.org/ would be a drop in replacement.

  9. I've obviously grown accustomed to the breakneck pace of releases back in the #booklore / #vibecoding days

Migrated to #grimmory after the fork and 2.3.0 release... I've been keeping an eye on pull requests and patiently awaiting the next release... It looks like they're really working hard on overhauling the insides and not focusing too hard on new features right now

I think the future is bright ✨

  13. So, it seems that #Booklore has fallen off the internet.
Only noticed this by chance after trying to check the documentation, to see if there is some way to adjust how many leading zeros the series index gets.

I have looked into it, and...

All I'll say is: Yeesh. 😬

So... I guess I will be looking for an alternative now.

  14. Okay, I have to admit that sometimes, Docker makes sense. I use Docker for Immich and Booklore, and I was dragged to it kicking and screaming.

Changing from booklore to grimmory (the new, hopefully not vibe-coded fork)

    Changed
    > image: booklore/booklore:latest

    To
    > image: grimmory/grimmory:latest

    Then ran

    docker compose pull
    docker compose up

  20. Hearing rumors of some kind of Booklore drama and the sole developer quitting. The github shows a 404, which isn't ideal. While this could suck, the product is pretty feature complete for me.

  21. New #blog post: Migrating our #ebooks from #Booklore to #CalibreWebAutomated

A few weeks ago, I migrated our library to Booklore. However, there's been some community drama since than, culminating in the developer deleting the project entirely (repo, discord and website - all gone).

This post details the process of migrating our library over to Calibre-Web.

Part way through, I decided to use Calibre Web Automated instead, but it's pretty much drop-in compatible.

  22. Not sure what the fuck happen, but somehow suddenly #BookLore has disappeared from the face of the earth.

I really think I am cursed or something, everytime I find something cool or amazing, it just dies or vanishes.

At least, as long as I have the Docker image, that wont go anywhere haha!

  24. @geniodiabolico @evgandr @rasterweb

#Booklore appears to have imploded. The main site doesn't load, the Github repo is deleted or private and the Docker image is gone.

26. I recently moved over to #Booklore for my book library and love its excellent Kobo sync, but watching its development I have a newfound understanding of the abuse open source maintainers have to put up with. How some people can act so entitled over a piece of free software is beyond me. #reading #OpenSource

  27. I did not know about the situation regarding #Booklore and oh boy what a read that was.

Situations like these only reinforce my scepticism regarding immature and (especially) AI-assisted self-hosted projects. After all, my family and friends who use my services do not care about drama happening behind the scenes. They need a viable alternative to
#BigTech, and uncertainty is the opposite of "viable".

  28. Welp.. Looks like I can scratch "try Booklore as a Calibre replacement" off my to-do list.

It appears that Booklore just got added to the "vibe-coding dev nuked their app after the Internet came 'a-pitchforkin" list...

EDIT: Looks like the GitHub repo is actually still there (for now?). They just nuked their Discord for the project.

  33. RE: mastodon.gal/@roicou/116199130

    Algunha suxerencia?

  35. New #Blog post: Moving our #ebooks to #Booklore

Over the weekend, I saw someone else's blogpost about Booklore and got nerd sniped by the mention of working Kobo sync support.

This week I've been playing around with migrating our book collection over to Booklore along with getting it working with a Kobo
