"WHAT are you doing?!" asked Etta as she swirled into the room w/ the pearled #Veil fresh from the seamstress.

Lula glanced at her in the vanity mirror as she pinned a #Magnolia in her hair.
"I thought this would do in a pinch..."

"Nonsense," Etta dismissed the lovely notion."Besides, Nana always said,
If the #Bonny #Bride has flowers in her hair,
In the light of morn, she'll regret her #Wedding fair."

The #Blossom fell out before Etta finished the verse.

The street was full of children, sturdy and well bundled, flowing downhill from the neighborhoods toward the school. A cluster of teens on scooters flashed by laughing. Younger kids ran or skipped or stopped for warm cider at the corner shop.

I, old enough to remember when streets were for cars, not kids, let them flow around me, a worn stone in their bonny river, and drank from my own mug of hot, sweet cider.
