#GoldstreamCreekFire and #BonanzaCreekFire see continued suppression success
BY 2025 #NENANARIDGECOMPLEX on JULY 25, 2025
…Fire Update: The Nenana Ridge Complex has seen substantial progress in containment over the past several days. On the Goldstream Creek Fire, the northern most edge is in monitor and patrol status, with little fire activity throughout the area. Wrapping around to the eastern portion of the fire, in the zone west of Ohio Creek and northeast of Skinny Dick’s Road, containment line has been established. Pike Interagency Hotshot Crew moved out of the area Thursday. A helicopter assisted with the move, sling-loading the crew’s gear out. Platte Canyon Suppression Module has been working an area just north of Straight Creek, adjacent to where Pike IHC had camped. As Platte Canyon demobilizes, Pike IHC will shift to that area to continue suppression work…

Alaska Division of Forestry wildfire roundup 2025BY ALASKA DIVISION OF FORESTRY & FIRE PROTECTION on JULY 19, 2025
🔥 Priority Wildfire Roundup, Alaska DOF July 19, 2025 🔥
The weekend brings a mix of warmer weather in areas of the state, followed by increased chances of rain. Beginning Sunday and continuing into the start of the week, more widespread precipitation is expected as a southwesterly flow pulls moisture into the West Coast, which will extend further into the Interior on Monday and Tuesday.
Precipitation and cooler weather will limit fires to creeping and smoldering. However, duff layers in the southern regions are still dry and holding heat, making resistance to control very high until more wetting rains are received.
Firefighters continue the arduous work of mop-up to ensure the fire doesn’t cross firelines. Crews are also backhauling equipment and gear no longer needed. With moderated conditions, many fire management organizations will downsize in the coming days.

Alaska Division of Forestry wildfire roundup 2025BY ALASKA DIVISION OF FORESTRY & FIRE PROTECTION on JULY 18, 2025
Heat remains within the perimeters of many Alaska fires, smoldering in the duff and organic materials. Here, a firefighter is “dry mopping,” or digging out the burning material, breaking it apart, and mixing it with mineral soil to smother the fire and prevent re-ignition. July 17, DOF.
🔥 Priority Wildfire Roundup, Alaska DOF July 18, 2025 🔥
Fire conditions continue to improve across existing fires on Division of Forestry and Fire Protection’s response area. Much of the firefighters’ focus across these fires is on mopping up, securing fireline, and backhauling equipment and supplies while remaining vigilant for new fire starts.

Alaska Division of Forestry wildfire roundup 2025BY ALASKA DIVISION OF FORESTRY & FIRE PROTECTION on JULY 15, 2025
🔥 Priority Wildfire Roundup, Alaska DOF July 15, 2025 🔥
Restoring uninterrupted traffic flow on the Parks Highway has been a top priority for the Division of Forestry and Fire Protection. A surge force of an additional 100 firefighters sent to the Nenana Ridge Complex are focused on removing hazards along the highway to alleviate traffic delays due to the fire. However, a planned construction project by the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities may result in construction-related delays even though the firefighting efforts are nearing completion along the highway.
Cooler temperatures and rain in areas across the state resulted in few new fire starts on Monday; however, some previous lighting starts continue to show.

Alaska Division of Forestry wildfire roundup 2025BY ALASKA DIVISION OF FORESTRY & FIRE PROTECTION on JULY 14, 2025
🔥 Priority Wildfire Roundup, Alaska DOF July 14, 2025 🔥
Despite hot and dry weather, there were minimal new fire starts on Sunday across Alaska. The eastern Interior will be the hottest today, but temperatures will become cooler towards the west, with cloud cover and rain moving in from the coast over the next two days. Temperatures should be moderate and close to seasonal averages by Wednesday and Thursday, which should help moderate fire behavior further.
Today, extreme fire behavior could occur where fire weather conditions are elevated, although areas with smoke cover could see moderated fire behavior. The central and eastern Interior will likely experience increased smoke and haze today. Moisture to the west will result in less smoke production and improved air quality.

🔥 Priority Wildfire Roundup, Alaska DOF July 13, 2025 🔥
Alaska remains at a Preparedness Level (PL) 4. Initial attack was light on Saturday. There are more than 1,900 personnel assigned to 17 staffed fires across the state. Over 750,000 acres have burned in Alaska this year – with more than 300,000 of those acres burned in the last week. High temperatures are expected to peak on Sunday before turning cooler.
Until weather conditions become cooler and wetter, fuels will be available and ready to burn and increased fire activity is expected to continue today. With increased fire activity, additional smoke production will decrease air quality.
