Whenever MAGAmerican exceptionalism shouts that they, and only they, won the second world war, remember this bloke.
An Australian who led the newly created Pathfinder force of the RAF. Determined, smart, and dedicated to both winning the war and protecting his crews.
Without the Pathfinders, the following bomber crews would have been much less effective.
He also wanted to form an international policing force (not the UN) to ensure wars couldn't happen again.

Avro Manchester Mk.I of No. 207 Squadron RAF. The Avro Manchester was a British twin engined medium bomber operated by the RAF. Due to problems with its Vulture engines, it was redesigned as a four engined heavy bomber, becoming the highly successful Avro Lancaster. https://www.destinationsjourney.com/historical-military-photographs/avro-manchester/ #AvroManchester #bomber #HeavyBomber #aeroplane #airplane #aircraft #aviation #RAF #RoyalAirForce #WorldWarTwo #WW2 #SecondWorldWar #AerialWarfare #BomberCommand #military #AirForce

#MastodonMosquitoMoment This wartime photograph shows a number of DH Mosquito B. Mk IV lined up, prior to a daylight raid on an enemy target in Europe. The B.Mk. IV was the first bomber version of the Mosquito to enter service with the Royal Air Force, and these aircraft are from No. 139 Squadron, RAF, the second unit to be equipped with the Mosquito bomber. Initially used on daring daylight raids, the bomber versions of the Mosquito had no defensive armament, and relied on sheer speed to evade enemy fighters. The People's Mosquito is restoring a fighter-bomber version of the famed Mosquito in the UK. #RAF #RoyalAirForce #bomber #BomberCommand #DeHavilland #Mosquito #WW2 #history #Europe #aircraft #avgeek #TPM #ThePeoplesMosquito #UK
