The #DashMiniRiceCooker, at about 211 watt-hours, can boil a mug-full of water in about 13 minutes (give or take some seconds). The water can be hot enough to make instant coffee/cocoa in about half that time (depending on how hot you like it to start)
Being 211wh, it'll work with a lot of lower-power "#solarGenerators" or "battery backup inverters"
(It used apx 50-55 watts to boil the water)

Our first emergency as Nova Scotians has, frankly, been a good dry run for a more extensive one (hurricane season will likely bring a power outage or two at least). It hasn’t cramped our style much other than making dishwashing a little more complicated, and it’s reminded us to think about what we need in an emergency kit. Hopefully it won’t last too much longer, though—it’s definitely messing with certain kinds of businesses.
