I like #fission #boiler #steam #power but if you start putting blocks of #solar panels down and connecting them to substations you can do it in many places and in sequence, and each 1000 kW you do is another 300 kWh per day. Add a #battery here and there, and you spread that through the whole day.
Fission takes a #decade, or perhaps 5 years (or 30) before a turbine spins a generator, and yes, all day and a GW but power next #winter is highly valuable.

Sagt mal… ich werde wohl noch nicht so schnell auf #Wärmepumpe umstellen. Aber um den Gasverbrauch im Haus zu reduzieren denke ich darüber nach, die Waschbecken im Bad von der Heizung abzukoppeln und einen 5l oder 10l Untertischboiler installieren zu lassen.
Das scheint mir ein guter Zwischenschritt zu sein... oder übersehe ich etwas?Oder ist es noch geschickter, neben die Heizung im Keller einen 30l #Boiler zu hängen, an den dann Becken + Dusche angeschlossen werden?

Yes, propane! Most #narrowboats have #propane #cookers. It can also be used for #heating. Alde is probably the leading brand for producing #propane boilers for boats that will run radiators as a #domestic #boiler will.#Diesel #heaters are also popular. Eberspacher and Webasto being the main brands though many fit very competitively priced Chinese units, but I read somewhere that they are not approved for marine use and should they start a fire insurance would be invalid.
A few #liveaboard boaters have larger Aga or Rayburn oil or solid fuel fired cookers that will also drive radiators
I referred to #cooker rather than #stove deliberately. Almost all privately owned narrow boats have small traditional style #solidfuel
(wood/coal) stoves fitted. On 19th century #boats theses would have been used both for heating and cooking. On modern boats they are usually stand alone heaters in the saloon, but some will be fitted with boilers and drive radiators elsewhere on the boat. -

If you're considering a new #boiler and, like me, a heat pump isn't an option, then I really recommend the #WorcesterBosch Greenstar 8000+ 32kW (other outputs available depending on property size of course), combined with the Bosch EasyControl internet connected thermostat. We had ours installed 3 weeks ago. It replaced our brilliant 18 year old Worcester Greenstar 30CDI. A few things needed replacing on it so was time for a change. New one is quiet, built to last and is very efficient. #heating

Tijd om te vergroenen! Ik hik er al jaren tegenaan, maar nu gaat het ineens hard: mijn huis gaat "van het gas af".
De #spouwmuurisolatie is aangevraagd, en omdat mijn gemeente de eerste €2000 daarvan voor zijn rekening neemt en mijn offerte slechts €1700 is, betekent dat dat ik die isolatie dus gewoon gratis krijg 😎
Daarna wil ik mijn dak vol #zonnepanelen laten leggen, CV-ketel met radiatoren vervangen door #airco en een elektrische #boiler en een fijne #thuisbatterij zodat ik mijn overschotten aan stroom 's nachts door mijn serverpark kan sturen.
En dan moet ik natuurlijk ook m'n fornuis gaan vervangen door iets elektrisch... -
Gisteren op #eenvandaag was er een item om in een #boiler stroom die je over hebt als warm water op te slaan. Wat mij opviel is dat ze als voorbeeld een conventionele boiler lieten zien. En het item eindigde met dat je beter een #warmtepomp kan nemen. Maar je kan toch ook met je Warmtepomp warm water maken in een Boiler. Dan heb je het beste van twee werelden. Mijn installatie kan dat en de leverancier (#Weheat). gaat dit binnenkort ondersteunen. Dus heb ik straks een #Warmwateraccu.

This isn't a chocolate fountain - it's rust sludge.
We got a magnetic filter added to the central heating system last week. This is it after just 30 minutes, then 2 hours later (after cleaning it), then 2 more hours.
I suspect it will be running much more smoothly after this.

Here's a new blog post for today about the water heater that I installed over the weekend.
Sounds dull, right ? Well this might actually save half of our total energy bill.
Replacing the antiquated gas boiler with an electric boiler running from our solar panels has been on the to-do list for years, but we kept prioritizing other things to save energy. Because the other work kept reducing our total energy consumption, that which remained from the water heater started to look a bit silly as it was costing us nearly half of our total annual energy bill for absolutely everything that we do in our work and private life.
Anyway, the job is done now. While water boilers really are a bit boring, this job brings us one step closer to being completely free of fossil fuel.
What I particularly appreciate is that when I return home from exercising I can now take a completely fossil-fuel free shower. Today the sun heated up my shower water while I cycled.
