I found it! I found smoked tofu in Bodø! In the Kiwi supermarket. I also found a tofu-based fish-tasting spread, I just have to try it although I never tried "fish paté" in my life and I hated pretty much every vegan fish I have tried. Now I have to triage what can survive outside a fridge until tomorrow (on the window, but the window can only be tilted a bit).

The potato pancakes, the Valsoia "nutella", the hummus, and the rocket are gone by now 😊 Still craving smoked tofu I tried EuroSpar, and, although there was vegan cheese and vegan sausages, no tofu in sight. I bought some lettuce, chickpeas, and red pepper stuffed olives from the salad bar and 2 bread rolls. I usually hate high protein products (like Skyr) but Greek soya yoghurt is OK.

Then I went to a health food store Sunkost. It literally means "healthy food". Their fridges are full of kombucha but no tofu in sight. I even asked, they do not carry tofu.

I do not get it. Even in the nineties, in the underdeveloped meathead Croatia, smoked and plain tofu, and smoked and plain seitan were available in health food stores. What the hell is wrong with Norway?

I have been toying with the idea to move to Narvik, or Bodø, and open a vegan soup and stew to go stand feeding hungry vegan backpackers. That would solve several problems:
- I want out of IT, the entire sector deserves to drown in slop
- I need to move where summers are tolerable, I am getting old, and the heat is becoming deadly
- vegan (and other) travellers need to eat, preferably something warm

The next day, still craving smoked tofu I went to Extra by Coop. There was one block of plain tofu but no smoked tofu and I didn't want to buy a litre of oil to fry a block of tofu (I already left an almost full bottle of canola oil in Kristiansand, I can't be the one to supply all the kitchens with staple ingredients). Interestingly, they had some vegan cheese and sausages, but no tofu, and cheese is almost all fat, and sausages are too much fat and little protein. I was craving tofu. I bought some mixed nuts to sprinkle on top of my salad, a vanilla flavoured coconut yoghurt and 2 more bananas. I also tried to find something in Hamnøy, there's a fish and chips stand, well, their chips (fries) although fried separately contain fish stock 🤢 What the fucking fuck? I bought a small bag of trail mix.

Yesterday I finished my salad on the ferry and was hoping for some smoked tofu in Bodø. Went to Coop and Rema 1000 - no tofu of any kind in sight. Bought a small tub of hummus, Norwegian potato pancakes (after 8 PM the bread rolls are sold out), Valsoia vegan "nutella" (a lucky find), 2 bananas, a bag of rocket/arugula/rucola, 2 tiny avocados, a small bag of walnuts, jalapeño flavoured peanuts, and a dark chocolate with pistachio.

This is very random but please boost: Can someone in Bodø lend me a handle to change the direction of opening the window? Where I am staying the window only tilts a bit, it is way too hot and I need fresh air. The receptionist told me that they are not allowed to give me the handle despite there being no children and no drunk people in the room. I already travel with a Swiss Army knife to unscrew some types of window limiters (yes I do screw them back in before leaving) but do not have the thing used here (a square prism rod perhaps 6mm wide).
