Made it!

Last climb done, I guess. About 30km left, mostly downhill 😎
First view of the Bodensee!
In case you need any more convincing: this place has cheese vending machines!
Good morning! I’m starting the final day of my ride. 70km remaining, so I should hit the Bodensee around lunchtime.
The bike is packed, batteries are charged, Tyrone is well-fed, and the weather is bright and sunny. 😎
The scenery is splendid everywhere. This is probably one of the most beautiful areas in Europe (or the world, just look at all the Chinese visiting Neuschwanstein).
I eventually stopped taking pictures, because how many mountain panoramas can you really look at. (Also, I was busy cycling.)
The route mostly lead along country lanes with little to no traffic, or dedicated cycle paths. There’s only a few short sections of busy roads.
It’s prime luxury #cycling.
Note to anyone considering this tour: don’t be put off by the distance or elevation.
I’m doing it this way because I’m a little bonkers, and have gotten it into my head that it must be possible to do my stretch of this route on 2.5 days.
But you don’t have to. You can make your days as long or short as you like. There’s restaurants and accommodation everywhere. Plenty of points to jump in and out by rail.
They charge 33,50€ for one night, one person. The price sadly doesn’t include a massage - I asked.
Fortunately last night was only 13,50€ without a receipt, so that sort of averages out.
Today was pretty much the same as yesterday in stats: 150 km, 1550m elevation.
Hey, I think I know that castle
Finally ready to ride 🤩
Good morning! Had a decent night.
Now shower, breakfast, packing, and then a long day in the saddle, heading west.
As you’d expect from the region’s geography, there’s the occasional crunchy climb. But most of it is either flat or gently sloped.
The infrastructure is excellent, with restaurants, and accommodation everywhere.
This long distance cycle route, the Bodensee-Königssee-Radweg, is actually pretty awesome.
It runs just north of the Alps. So you have exceptional views all day long. The cycle paths are quite good, with just a few short sections on major roads.
Mostly, I’m riding quiet rural paved roads, with a bit of light gravel every now and then.
This might be something for @girlonthenet …
Stats: today was 143km in 8 hours, with 1550m elevation gain
There’s a bunch of dudes in lederhosen, peacefully drinking their beer.
As the power goes out, they unpack a bunch of instruments, and get going. They’re doing a good job of it, too!
Rode pretty close up to sunset. Found a campsite, pitched the tent.
Sat down in the restaurant for a hearty dinner, only to step into the middle of a power outage.🥴
If you’re passing through Bad Tölz: The Eismanufaktur has glorious ice cream. Not cheap, but worth every cent.
