Bobby is seven months old now and fully in troublesome adolescent mode, but even that with him is relatively easy. I feel so lucky every day to have such a sweet companion.

It sucks when it's too cold for Bobby and I to take long sniff walks outside. My fingers keep freezing up right away when we go out, so I know it's gotta be too cold on his little toe beans. But without enough outside time he gets bored, and bored puppies are naughty.

Yesterday we were visiting the neighbor and her three border collies. Of course they have perfect recall and the one who wanted to play fetch could be instructed to "fetch it up nice" and hand the human the stick.
Meanwhile, Bobby was eating mud, wandering into their yard and ignoring my calls, and at one point ran wildly right into a log causing him to somersault over it. 🤦♂️

My coparent watched him for a bit for me so I could use the chainsaw, and he was not happy about being without his emotional support human. He led coparent to my cottage and put himself to bed to wait for me. 😅 [laughing emoji]
Now I'm in the puppy version of nap jail with my 40lb lap dog. 🥰 [happy emoji with hearts]

I let #BobbyTheDog eat the eggs he broke yesterday since I didn't want them to go to waste. What a mistake. He's fine, but my well insulated tiny cottage is filled with a huge cloud of noxious dog gas.

I haven't felt well the last few days, so I've been trying to think of more stationary (for me) commands I can teach #BobbyTheDog.
He's such a fast learner that he already knows "sit", "down", "touch", "leave it", "look at me", "wait", and "go to bed", as well his markers "yes" and "through", and is working on "on", "off", "show me your belly", and good social greeting behaviors (ie, sitting instead of jumping). Of course we need to work more in higher distraction environments, but I feel like it's not bad for a little guy who's been here less than a month and a novice home trainer who's learning through #youtube.
So here's his new trick, "boop". It only took him three repetitions to get it!
In the video I say, "Bobby come here. Boop!" And then mark his correct response with, "yes."
