  1. This week's #ThursdayFiveList theme is #StrongVerbs. Here's a list of the first five tunes that I came up with:

The Four Seasons: Walk Like A Man (1963)

The Velvet Underground: Run Run Run (1967)

  2. I have never had any doubts about the musical talents of James Brown, but it's very nice to see him step out of his usual role as Soul Brother Number One and just enjoy himself being in awe of two of his fellow artists. And of course, both Bobby Bland and B.B.King totally deserve it:

James Brown, Bobby Bland & B.B.King: Blues medley (a mid-seventies live performance from the "Soul Train")

For some reason I had not watched this before, but I'm real glad that I did!

  3. @DoctorMad Even better, there is also this live video of O.V.Wright, filmed for a Japanese TV show in 1979, a year before his death. The technical quality is poor, and it seems that he was not in good health, but the performance is absolutely mesmerising.

Bobby Bland once mentioned in an interview that he used to request the studio version of this medley from radio stations. He was a fan, too.
