"Fine weather. Left the Portage #BoatEncampment between 9 and 10 am, and having travelled with a swift current all day encamped at half before 6 about 5 miles below the Dalles des Morts. Killed a fine fat Bear today.

YORK FACTORY EXPRESS JOURNAL, 1831:
"We remained here #BoatEncampment till the 10th, when Mr. Heron, Chief Trader, made his appearance from Fort Colvile with two boats. Then ordering back the horses to Klyne's House #Jasper we embarked on the far famed Columbia, which runs here with tremendous velocity. We reached Fort Colvile, Mr. Heron's headquarters, in about four days. The Fort is most delightfully situated in a a beautiful plain surrounded by high lands.. #HBC #History #SpokaneWA #WAHistory
