My pink chicken also believes that the new #boardsofcanada #inferno album was definitely worth the 13 year wait.
It’s got hints of Campfire Headphase and Tomorrow’s Harvest, along with some new twists. It’s certainly not an easy listen, but it’s definitely the best thing I’ve heard this year.

The Scottish electronic duo’s first full-length in nearly 13 years is another meticulous and transfixing entry in their sporadic catalog.
For over three decades, Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin have raised a mist of mystery around #BoardsofCanada, their revered electronic-psychedelic-ambient-collage project. The Scottish duo didn’t even publicly acknowledge that they were brothers until a rare in-person interview in 2005, tied to the release of their third album.

Personal impression, NO CRITIQUE!, of the newest #BoardsOfCanada , Inferno :
This is something that expects you to listen 100% from the beginning to the end. Forget about falling asleep. While it's absolutely capable of carrying you away, it will keep you in the here and now. Not always for the better. The title is not some random decision. But then again there are tracks like Arena Americanada, which filled me with pure joy. Personally, I love it. Kodus, BoC, for this outstanding piece of art. -
And hiding inside the booklet unannounced is an extra flexidisc. #boardsofcanada

Three listens in, I like Inferno, lots of great stuff on there, but is it my favourite BoC album? At the moment, I wouldn't put it above Tomorrow's Harvest or Geogaddi, or indeed Music Has The Rights... either I suppose.
Let's see if this changes with more listens.

Finished with the Boards of Canada album.
I do feel like there may have been some over-hype given the fact their last album was over a decade ago. Or it might be my insomnia. Even with that tho, really liked the album.

On a first listen of the new Boards of Canada album, Inferno, I'd say it's very good indeed.
But has the religious symbolism ever been used by them in such a deliberately pointed and sustained fashion before? The “message” of this album, if their music ever has a message, seems very clear…
