The Palestinian #BDS National Committee (#BNC), the largest coalition in Palestinian society that is leading the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, welcomes the news of a #ceasefire agreement with immense relief. A ceasefire, however, is only the most important first step to end the genocide against the 2.3 million #Palestinians in the illegally occupied and besieged #Gaza Strip. Without massive pressure, it may constitute a continuation of a less visible form of #genocide that #Israel and the #US hope will provoke less regional and global outrage, boycotts and sanctions.

這篇來聊一下另外一個 10Mbps 的接取標準 #10base5其實在過去有另外一個說法
10Base2 被稱為 #thinnet
而 10Base5 稱為 #thicknet
後者比前者約 5 年以前推出
兩者都是使用同軸電纜
並且都運行在 10Mbps而 10Base5 使用的電纜線更加的粗
在使用上 10Base5 的概念更像是幹線的存在
同樣與 10Base2 一樣可以讓多個節點運行在同一個內網內
不過接取的方式有很大的不同接入網路的接頭不是使用 #BNC 而是 #N端子 以外
還有另外一個接取方式稱為 #吸血鬼接口 Vampire tap
使用端子對同軸線纜進行穿刺再由收發器轉接為 #AUI 接口
電腦或是終端裝置再透過 AUI 線再接到 #網路卡而後來 10Base2 出現
由於其低成本、線纜鋪設難度低以及接取的方式也簡單的多
也讓 10Base5 快速的退市#10BaseT 的出現讓同軸電纜開始慢慢退出區域網路接取標準

Also, as you can see, I am still interested in the #affix "-ness", and because the #BNC does not contain the plural form "oddnesses", here instead a rather nice example for its use from Ford's **Some do not ...**: "It was an odd friendship, but the oddnesses of friendships are a frequent guarantee of their lasting texture."

Some hard facts from the British National Corpus #BNC : of the 44 hits for "oddness", 16 come from the same source, which turns out to be D. A. Cruse's "Lexical Semantics" textbook from 1986. Which makes me wonder, not for the first time, whether it has been a good idea to include linguistic texts in the BNC sampling :)

Just wondering how frequent the phrase/compound "white lie" is nowadays and in general admiring what a good concept it is, and on casually checking via http://bncweb.lancs.ac.uk not only finding "classic white lie" (in case you wonder: "We are just good friends ---"), but, more relevant in academic and general writing contexts, this beauty:
"I didn't want to tell her I'd done nothing at all so I told a sort of white lie — said I was halfway through the first draft. "
